News

Starting from January 19, 2011, the registration of new students to the Graduate School of IPB for the academic year of 2011/2012 is done with the online system only. This is to simplify and quicken the enrolment of student candidates all over Indonesia.

"With this system we hope that more students will enroll, and so this gives us a wider opportunity to select and get prospective qualified students. In this way, the Graduate School of IPB has kept maintaining the quality of students since the enrollment," said Dean of the Graduate School of IPB, Prof.Dr. Khairil Anwar Notodiputro at the press conference before the launching of the Online Registration which will be held on Wednesday (19 / 1) in the Senate Meeting Room, Andi Nasoetion Darmaga Campus of IPB Bogor.

Prof. Khairil, accompanied Secretary of Development and Cooperation of the Graduate School, Prof. Dr. Muladno, described the stages and requirements for prospective students who wish to register online. Double Degree
For IPB, the Graduate School has an important history as it is the first Graduate School in Indonesia, since its establishment in 1975. It is now growing with 77 master programs and 44 doctoral programs, with four thousand students consisting of 2500 master degree students and 1,500 doctoral students.

A number of breakthroughs have been made by IPB Graduate School, such as opening the Double Degree program, in which students apply to the IPB and at the same time also register to universities abroad. The program allows students to obtain two degrees from the two universities.
A Double Degree Program for example has been offered with France, which has been running for two years. This year the Graduate School of IPB plans to open a Double Degree program in cooperation with the Ministry of Research and Technology (Kemenristek) of Indonesia and Japan.

This effort, according to Prof. Khairil, has a positive impact on students. "Opening the horizons of students in the international world, giving an added value and enhancing competitiveness," added Prof. Khairil.

The Graduate School of IPB also continues to improve its role and function by developing LRAISEA (Leadership, Relevance, Academic Atmosphere, Internal Management, Sustainability, Efficiency and Accountability).

LRAISEA has positive results, among others a reduced average length of student graduation time in 2010, i.e. 2 years and 4 months for a master degree, and 3 years and 8 months for the doctoral program. In comparison, in 2006, the average graduation time is 3 years and 2 months for a master degree, and 5 years and 6 months of the doctoral program.

"Starting on July 31, 2011, the Master programs must not exceed 4 years, while the doctoral program must not exceed 5 years starting January 31, 2012. When they still exceed the specified limits, they automatically drop out," said Prof. Khairil. (mtd)
