The Directorate of Strategic Studies and Academic Reputation (DKaSRA) of IPB University held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with journal managers. The FGD titled 'Discussion of IPB Journal Management Towards Global Reputation', took place in the Postgraduate Conference Room, IPB Dramaga Campus, some time ago.

The activity was officially opened and moderated by the Director of KaSRA IPB University, Prof Anuraga Jayanegara S.Pt., M.Sc. The FGD was held to gather input and suggestions from journal managers related to efforts to advance IPB University journals so that they get global recognition or reputation.

"The field of scientific publications at IPB University has now transformed into an academic reputation. The orientation is not only quantity, but more towards quality. In line with that, today's activity aims to get input on our program plan, so that the program implemented later can be optimal and in accordance with the needs of the journals," explained Prof Anuraga Jayanegara S.Pt., M.Sc. He also briefly explained the DKaSRA IPB University program plan related to strengthening journal management.

According to Prof Anuraga Jayanegara S.Pt., M.Sc., scientific journals as a medium for disseminating information on the work of researchers and academics in higher education have a role in creating national and global reputation. Currently, IPB University has 69 active scientific journals, with 4 of them indexed by international institutions, namely Scopus. IPB journals that have been accredited nationally by Science and Technology Index (Sinta) amount to 54 journals, while 15 others have not been accredited.

The journal managers who attended were generally chief editors and administrators of each journal. They were given the opportunity to express the needs and constraints experienced while managing the journal, as well as their opinions on the DKaSRA IPB University journal strengthening program plan.

"In addition to collect suggestions and input directly in the room, DKaSRA IPB University also provides an online form to accommodate input that has not been submitted during the FGD. The points conveyed by the representatives of journal managers and the discussion in the FGD are important inputs for the preparation of a program to strengthen the management of IPB University's scientific journals in the future," concluded Prof Anuraga Jayanegara S.Pt., M.Sc.
