IPB Discourse Forum Holds an IELTS Test Simulation

Having foreign language skills, especially English, is the main requirement for someone to get a scholarship abroad. One of the English proficiency tests recognized by the international community is the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
IELTS can be used for immigration purposes or to continue study abroad, especially in the United Kingdom. IELTS also begins to be recognized by the United States and around 6000 organizations in the world. Domestic agencies have also begun to use IELTS as a requirement for graduation or promotion.
Therefore, to improve the English language skills of students and the surrounding community, the Discourse Forum of Postgraduate Student of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) held an IELTS Simulation and Scholarship Seminar at the IPB Dramaga Campus, Bogor (9/12).
“This event aims to provide important space, access, information and understanding for participants to prepare themselves for the IELTS test through simulation, discussion of questions, and tips and tricks seminar. For three hours the participants received listening, writing and reading exam material. Participants came from several public and private universities in Jabodetabek and Bandung,” said Radyum Ikono, Chair of the IPB Discourse Forum.
According to him, this activity was conducted in collaboration with Bakti Nusa Bogor, founder of Sahabat Scholarship (portal for information and scholarship development), ngeIELTS Language Institute, Dompet Dhuafa for Education and Cinta Anak Tani Movement (GCAT).
“In addition to simulations, to give more insight to participants for preparing themselves for scholarships, we also held an overseas scholarship seminar. This seminar is complete with information on institutions or campuses that have scholarships and also on requirements needed to be prepared to get the scholarship. We discussed on how to prepare the necessary administrative requirements, how to write a good and correct research proposal, and how to contact a professor or targeted university,” he explained.
As a form of mutual concern, on this occasion a donation was also given to contribute to the activities of the Cinta Anak Tani Movement (GCAT), which is a movement to provide scholarships for students from farmer families living in the area around the IPB Dramaga campus, Bogor. (**/Zul/ZSP)
