Contribution Make Indonesia as a World Maritime Axis, Himafarin IPB Holds a Fishing Fisheries Festival

In order to realize Indonesia as a world maritime axis, the Student Association of the Department of Fisheries Resource Utilization (Himafarin) of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK) Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) held a National Catching Fisheries Festival (Festanas) in 2018. The Festanas consists of several series of activities namely debate competition, scientific writing competition, and national seminar. The activity was held at the Sumardi Sastrakusumah Auditorium, FPIK Dramaga Campus IPB, Bogor (12-13 / 10).
Secretary of the Department of Fisheries Resource Utilization, FPIK IPB, Dr. Iin Solihin, S.Pi, M.Si, also appreciated the implementation of Festanas activities in 2018. She invited fisheries students to participate in providing brilliant ideas to help realize Indonesia as the world's maritime axis.
"As a fisheries student, I hope that (you) have a high sense of concern for the Indonesian fisheries issue. Although students have not been able to solve problems directly, at least fisheries students can speak up to help solve fisheries problems in Indonesia," said Dr. Iin.
Dr. Iin asserted that student assignments are not only limited to lectures and practicum but also need to share knowledge about fisheries issues. This sharing needs to be done to implement the knowledge they have. Although students have not been able to solve fisheries problems directly, at least students can contribute solutive ideas in dealing with fisheries problems in Indonesia.
Meanwhile the Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs FPIK IPB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Joko Santoso, M.Si will also try so that the students of FPIK IPB can take advantage of the weekend time to be directly involved in advancing Indonesian fisheries.
"We will try to present a curriculum that Saturday and Sunday students of FPIK IPB have no lecture and practicum activities, to go into the community and study directly in the field about fisheries," said Prof. Joko.
Prof. Joko hopes that with the enactment of the curriculum, students will be able to analyze fisheries problems and can solve these problems according to their competencies.
The National Seminar on Festanas in 2018 aims to bring together various elements that play an important role in advancing Indonesian fisheries. Some of the elements presented are the government, companies and State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs). In the 2018 Festanas discussed efforts to realize Indonesia as the world's martyrdom axis through marine and fisheries science and technology.
As an archipelago that has a coastline of more than 99 thousand kilometers, Indonesia has great potential to become the largest maritime country in the world. The maritime potential in Indonesia does not only come from the capture and processed fisheries sector. But this potential includes maritime tourism potential spread along the Indonesian coastline. One tourism potential that can be developed is diving tourism. With the divers growth of 15.7 percent in the world and abundant underwater wealth, Indonesia is a potential market for travel.
On the other hand, the capture fisheries industry in Indonesia is also very promising. Not only fish, shrimp, and crabs, it turns out that Indonesia has great potential to fulfill the share of the crab market in America. This mangrove crab or crab is very potential to be developed considering the high demand of the American market while the industry that develops crabs in Indonesia is still small.
The National Seminar on Festanas in 2018 presents Suhartono Tony (Owner of Pearl of Papua Diving and Leisure Liveroad and Owner of PT. Guna Citra Kartika), Imas Masriah, S.Pi (Head of National Fisheries Port of the Opposition), Risyanto Suanda, S.Pi., M .Si., (Director of Perum Perindo), and Andri Saputra, S.Pi (CEO of PT. Mina Indonesia). (RYS).
