This event is a part of IGTF and ASEAN SLP activity which was held before in July – August 2018.

Dr. Ir. I Wayan Astika, Chied Executive of the program said that IPB Goes To Field is an annual educational program in format of students learning with community by living, adapting and working together with community. In 2017 IGTF had been developed and created new program named ASEAN Service Learning Program (ASEAN SLP) which is a collaboration with universities in ASEAN countries.

“This year IGTF is the eleventh program, while for ASEAN SLP it is the second year. These are volunteering programs so students who join are the students who had been selected and are genuinely interested to participate in these programs. This year, there were nine programs. It included seven IGTF programs and two ASEAN SLP programs which were participated by students from Universiti Putra Malaysia,” explained Dr. Wayan.

According to Dr.Wayan, the expected output from these programs is service to community. “The most important is the community will be helped in overcoming their problems. This activity also can enrich students’experience and improve their soft skills,” he conveyed.

Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Sugeng Heri Suseno, Vice Head of LPPM IPB for Community Development stated that LPPM IPB always attempts to deliver something best and different from years before. One of them is by making the requirement to make LPPM journal in this IGTF activity. “Indeed the rank for PPM IPB has not satisfied yet. It is also included in when IPB ranked in top three nationally, from HR and innovation field had been good, both of their contribution score were above three, except PPM which only scored 2.4. It is note for all of us to work harder,” said Prof. Sugeng.

“I looked at the parameters in Abdimas, one of the most concerned outputs is community development journal. Until now, we are really trying and has assigned special team to manage that journal. We will try, because actually the end- point of activities in education and research is how all activities give impact or output to community,” he added.
