One of the ways to rehabilitate the condition of coral reef ecosystems that have been damaged is by coral transplantation. Coral transplantation is a technique for multiplying coral colonies by utilizing its asexual reproduction (fragmentation). Some things that need to be considered in coral transplantation are water conditions, turbidity, and availability of coral as seed.

Center for Coastal and Marine Resources Studies (PKSPL) Institute of Research and Community Empowerment (LPPM) Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) in collaboration with PT. Star Energy did a monitoring activity on coral reef transplantation in Nyamuk Island, East Siantan District, Anambas Regency, Riau Islands Province. This activity was first held in 2013 and this year is the fifth year. This activity is routinely carried out once a year to see the developments and measure the growth of transplanted corals.

Measurements were done by using a ruler or a tape measure. The transplanted corals were measured on its height and width of each fragment. Transplantations were done on cement media in the form of a rectangular furnace with a total of 20 modules. Currently, the condition of the transplanted corals has grown well. (RYF)
