IPB Was Ranked the First in the Ranking Web Repositories of Southeast Asia

Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB Bogor Agricultural University) has made another achievement. Based on the webometrics results of January 2017, the Ranking Web Repositories, http://repositories.webometrics.info/en/Asia_Pacifico/South%20East%20 Asia sites, IPB came first or the best in Southeast Asia. At the world level, IPB is at position 159 and beat 114 other universities in Southeast Asia.

The main aim of the Ranking Web of Repositories is not really to rank the universities, but to promote Open Access initiatives and global access to academic knowledge. Thus IPB shows that it supports ease of access and free access to scientific publications online from and to the academics. The indicators used in ranking of the website is to ensure global visibility and its impact on research repository. It motivates both learning institutions and universities to support Open Access initiatives and therefore the free access to scientific publications in an electronic form and to other academic material. The web indicators are used here to measure the global visibility and impact of the scientific repositories. that have the look of a website that reflects the accuracy of the activities of the institution.
