Minister of Agriculture and Spatial Planning / Head of National Land Board, Sofyan A. Djalil, give a public lecture on the topic "Space-Based Policy to Face Development Challenge ", on Monday (24/10), at the Auditorium Andi Hakim Nasution, Darmaga campus of IPB Bogor. This event, initiated in cooperation of the Study Program of Regional and Rural Development Planning (PWD) of Graduate School of Bogor Agricultural University and Minister of Agriculture and Spatial Planning / Head of National Land Board, RI, is part of the commemoration of the National Agricultural and Spatial Planning Day, 2016.

Minister said that spatial planning should be the determining factor of development direction to be able to take into account the impact of such development. In addition, he discussed the development plan which is still sectoral, so it needs to become integrative as some policies become very much related.

The Minister also emphasized on the need for an integrative spatial policy system that can show some implications of land use policies, maximize the benefit for the communities and increase appreciation of the spatial planning itself. In addition, he revealed the Ministry's target of this year to issue one million land certificates for the community and it would increasing every year. "Itis expected that these land certificates will create legal certainty and boost the economy of the community," he said.

In the same place, IPB Rector Prof. Dr. Herry Suhardiyanto said that with the public lecture, students and faculty members are expected to be able to understand more about the agrarian and spatial planning so that they can take part in the success of the government's development agenda. Rector stressed that the agrarian reform program launched by the Ministry of Agriculture and Spatial Planning could be implemented to the maximum so as to give farmers an opportunity and facilitate access to land resources. "Agriculture supported by the agrarian reform can be one instrument of equitable development," he said.

The public lecture, moderated by Prof. Dr. D.S. Priyarsono of FEM-IPB and President of the Indonesian Regional Science Association (IRSA), was attended by Director General of Spatial Planning, Head of BPN -Regional Office of West Java, Head of Land Affair Office of Bogor City, Head of Land Affair Office of Bogor Regency, Chairman of Study Program of Regional Planning and Rural Development  -IPB, lecturers, undergraduate and postgraduate students of IPB and universities around IPB.
