Bank Indonesia Holds Socialization of an Islamic Banking Book in IPB

Bank Indonesia (BI) in collaboration with the Faculty of Economics and Management of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB FEM) and the Indonesian Economists Association (ISEI) of Bogor Raya held a seminar and socialization of the book "Journey of Islamic Banking in Indonesia" (5/10). The event, held at Graha Widya Wisuda (GWW) or Graduation Building in Darmaga Campus of IPB Bogor, was attended by IPB’s students and those other campuses round IPB.

IPB’ Rector Prof. Suhardiyanto Herry said that IPB as an agricultural campus has a role and competence in community development related to banking and sharia economy. Further, IPB has also developed works in the field of sharia economy and a Centre for Business and Islamic Studies (CIBEST). Therefore, this activity is one form of value-added learning in order to better understand the Islamic Banking.

Director of the Central Banking Research Department (DRK) of BI, Dr.Siti Astiyah, revealed that the event is expected to improve the quality of Islamic banks and invite the participants to contribute to the development of Islamic banking and form a synergy among the various stakeholders.

The book "Journey of Islamic Banking in Indonesia" was prepared by a team of BI writers describing the historical development of Islamic banking in Indonesia, which is inseparable from the world Islamic economic development. With the publication of the book, it is expected to provide a description of the development of Islamic Banking and to introduce further to the community.

This event had a discussion session hosted by the Vice Dean for Resources, Cooperation and Development of FEM IPB Prof. Dr. Muhammad Firdaus and presented three resource persons, namely Prof.Dr.KH. Didin Hafidhuddin, Dr. Adiwarman Azwar Karim and Dr. Zaenal Efendi discussing the sharia economics and banking from different perspectives as well as current developments.

Present in the occasion among others were Head of the Central Bank Research Department of Bank Indonesia, Dr Darsono and Dean of FEM IPB Prof. Dr. Yusman Syaukat. (Mtd)
