At least three thousands students of Senior High School (SMA) along with companion teachers fulfilled Graha Widya Wisuda (GWW) in Campus of Bogor Agricultural University (
IPB), Darmaga, Bogor (21/1). Their presences in the people campus were to follow the socialization of National Selection to Enter the State Universities (SNMPTN) and the entrance to
IPB. These students came from 300 schools in Jabodetabek, Sukabumi, Cianjur, Banten and several schools in Central Java Province.
Vice Rector of Academic and Student Affairs of
IPB, Prof.Dr. Yonny Koesmaryono, said, SNMPTN quota this year was dropped by 10 percent compared to last year which reached 50 percent. Therefore, SNMPTN quota this year was 40 percent of the quota capacity of each Study Program in State Universities (PTN).
For the school with A accreditation, the system would automatically take 75 percent of the best students in the school to be able to follow the selection into the PTN through the achievement lane of this report card grades. Meanwhile, the school with B accreditation would be drawn 50 percent of its best students, and the school with C accrediation would be automatically drawn 20 percent of its best students. "Remember, the ranking of students in order to obtain 75 percent of the best and so will be done by the system automatically. Not by school. So that the school only fills the data of PDSS only, " asserted Prof Yonny.
Student should have the Certificate of Graduation (SKL) of secondary education and have the adequate health. “Disabilities may be, but be sure to follow all lectures. It is advisable to look at each page of PTN,” said Prof. Yonny.
Making sture that each school was required to have Serial Number of National School (NPSN). Schools filled in the Database of School Students (PDSS) which had been opened since the date of 18 January 2016. Each student should have National Student Identification Number (NISN) and registered in PDSS. Having the report card grades of 1 to 5 semesters which had been filled in PDSS.
Further, Prof. Yonny insisted, the students were required to to verify the data. If something went wrong it could be directly edited. At the time of the re-registration, if the data loaded in PDSS were different from the physical evidence so that the student was disqualified.
Meanwhile, in his presentation on
IPB, Prof Yonny said that
IPB was considered to be one of the most favorite universities. This was evident from the intense competition for the admission of
IPB. From the data of new admissions,
IPB was included in PTN which was impenetrable.
In the last 2015, of 39,160 applicants of SNMPTN, the ones accepted were 2,406 people. For Joint Selection to Enter the State Universities (SBMPTN), there were 32,246 applicants, those accepted were 1,235 people. Of 3,929 applicants through Talents Entrance Exam (UTM), the ones accepted were 214 people. While, the applicants through the lane of Regional Representative Scholarship (BUD), of 987 applicants, those accepted were 117 people.
Prof. Yonny added,
IPB ranked as the third best university in Indonesia based on the criteria of the quality of human resources, the quality of research and publication, the quality of student activities and the accreditation. Of the four criteria,
IPB was ranked 1 nationally for the quality of human resources and ranked 2 nationally for the quality of research and publication.
IPB was recognized as one of 150 best universities in the world version of QS World University Ranking by Subject namely Agriculture and Forestry. Other than that, in Indonesia, there were only two universities which study programs accredited by ABET namely ITB and
IPB.
Hereinafter, two research centers of
IPB were set to be Center of Featured IPTEK 8 2015 by Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education of Republik Indonesia. The two centers were Research Center for Surfactant and Bioenergy (SBRC) and Study Center for Primate (PSSP).
Meanwhile, Study Center of Coastal and Marine Resources (PKSPL) and Southeast Asian Food and Agricultural Science and Technology (SEAFAST) Center was set to be Guided Center of Featured Science and Technology in 2016-2018.
“Alhamdulillah, for eight consecutive years
IPB always dominates the list of Most Prospective Indonesian Innovative Work as the result of the selection of Business Innovation Center (BIC) Indonesia. Total innovations of IPB in the period of 2008-2015 are 326 innovations from 828 innovations of Indonesia. This number is the highest compared with other universities and research institutions,” he said.
On this occasion, Prof. Yonny also conveyed that
IPB had a number of clean and healthy snack corners, which were managed by Directorate of Business Development of
IPB. These snack corners were laid out well and directed so as to maintain the campus environment which was not seedy and dirty. (zul)
