Human Development Index (HDI) or Indeks Pembangunan Manusia (IPM) Indonesia in the year of 2012 lost to most of countries in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). HDI Indonesia was number six after Singapore, Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia, Thailand and Philippines.

Moreover the Indonesian educated unemployed was of 7.7 million people. Greater than the total of Singapore residents. If the number of unemployed could be productive like Singapore people, Indonesia would be filthy rich.

This was delivered by Dr. Heri Margono at the time of giving motivation to the graduating students of IPB in Auditorium Andi Hakim Nasoetion, Campus of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) Dramaga, Monday (20/1). Indonesia had the great people. Indonesia also had the growth of young people which was higher between other countries. This was the opportunity that no other nation had.

“That is a great opportunity or chance to advance the Indonesian nation. Then, what is the problem, why until now our position (IPM) is still in the order of six? After being traced, there are three affecting factors that are lack of access to education, health and economy,” he said.

Resources owned by Indonesian people were very large compared to the other countries of ASEAN. Of the research, each year Indonesia lost of Rp 31 trillion because of the illegal fishing done by other countries. “If the figure is used to increase the welfare, then the poverty in Indonesia will no longer exist,” he explained.

The poverty could resolved if we were compact. Currently, Indonesia was undeveloped the compact team. Whereas there was no problem that could not be solved if we were compact.

“Why we are created in tribes and nations, that is because of to know each other and work together as a team. The great work can be created if we are united,” he said. (zul)
