Debaters of Bogor Agricultural University the 3rd Winner of The United Asian Debating Championship
The United Asian Debating Championship (UADC) is an annual debating tournament for teams from universities in Asia. The UADC, like the AUDC and the All-Asians, is held annually in May. The competition involves eight preliminary rounds, which become power-paired as the tournament progresses, matching the strongest-performing teams against each other. The UADC holds debates in the Asian 3-on-3 format Parliamentary Debating. The 2nd United Asian Debating Championship 2011, held on 15 – 29 May 2011, was hosted by Tertiary Education Services Office, and co-organizer was University of Macau. As co-organizer the University of Macau was selected as the venue of the international debating championship.
As the university The English Debating Team of Bogor Agricultural University, consisted of Leo Wibisono Arifin (ITP44), Andini Widia Astuti (TIN44), Devi Fitri Yani (STK 46), under the supervision of Dra. Alfa Chasanah, MA of MKDU, won the 3rd place at this prestigious event. Logical reasoning, witty eloquence and close cooperation ensured the team at the leading position through the somedays eliminations processes. For eight days the team of Bogor Agricultural University were faced with teams from various universities in Asia and Indonesia as well. At the International event, Leo Wibisono Arifin, a member of the Debating Team of Bogor Agricultural University was selected to be the 3rd Best speaker of EFL (English as a Foreign Language).
As the largest university-level competition in the world, The United Asian Debating Championship (UADC) involving hundred of students from all over Asia. This competition becomes a highest recognition of debating skills, critical thinking and logical at the university level. Therefore, participation in this competition becomes a valuable opportunity for Bogor Agricultural University for achievement as well as hone quality.
