SkinCheck.AI, Aplikasi Karya Mahasiswa IPB University Raih Penghargaan 20 Capstone Project Terbaik Program Bangkit 2023
Achievement

The Bangkit 2023 program is present consistently every year to empower students to explore their creativity in developing projects based on the internet of things (IoT) and artificial intelligence (AI). This year, IPB University was represented by Faadiyah Ramadhani and Hanung Safrizal, from the Statistics and Data Science Study program, who are participating in this year’s Bangkit program.

The IPB University team also has members consisting of  Annas from Ujung Pandang State Polytechnic, Azalia Amanda Putri Sampurno from President University, Dimas Tri Mustakim from Brawijaya University, Rachmat Hidayat Abduh from Ujung Pandang State Polytechnic and Muhammad Risma from President University. They have succeeded in creating the SkinCheck.AI application.

This project was selected as one of the 20 best teams selected from approximately 700 participating teams, and is an extraordinary achievement. The SkinCheck.AI application is one of the best projects from Bangkit 2023 and received incubation funding of $10,000 or 140 million rupiah from Google and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemdikbudristek).

Faadiyah Ramadhani explained that the SkinCheck.AI application is a skin diagnosis application. He explained, through selfie scanning, the SkinCheck.AI application is able to identify the user’s skin condition. This application is able to provide recommendations regarding the most suitable skin care products based on the detected skin categories. This nearly autonomous application can replace the role of a dermatologist.

“The SkinCheck.AI application utilizes machine learning technology to provide accurate skin diagnoses and appropriate treatment recommendations,” said Faadiyah, an IPB University student from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences.

He continued, this application makes it easy for users to self-diagnose their facial skin problems quickly and efficiently. Not only that, this application can also provide accurate and timely information. Apart from that, SkinCheck.AI also helps users in planning their skin care by providing product recommendations, care routines, and monitoring the progress of their skin. Therefore, SkinCheck.AI not only addresses the problem of accessibility to quality skin care, but also presents an effective and economical solution.

“This application combines Artificial Intelligence technology to recognize facial skin problems through the smartphone camera. “The hope is that SkinCheck.AI will become an integral part of the facial skin care ecosystem that connects consumers with skin care manufacturers and dermatologist consultants,” said Faadiyah.
