Gorontalo Provincial Government and IPB University Follow Up on Cooperation Agreement
The Provincial Government of Gorontalo visited and followed up on the joint agreement that had been made between IPB University and Gorontalo Province. This visit was conducted on Wednesday, 5/7 at the Rector's Conference Room, IPB Dramaga Campus.
Prof Deni Noviana, Acting Rector of IPB University warmly welcomed the arrival of the Gorontalo Provincial Government. He also introduced the deans who were present at the event as a form of IPB University's seriousness in working with the Gorontalo Provincial Government.
"Of course, we are very ready to follow up on various agreements and future development plans from Gorontalo Province. IPB University also has a long history with Gorontalo Province," he said.
Prof Deni also introduced various programs that can be implemented in the context of the regional development of Gorontalo Province.
"We have a Regional Envoy Scholarship (BUD) program specifically for the best people from the province for regional development and human resources (HR). There are also training and related study centers that can be utilized. In the field of research, IPB University has various innovations that can be applied to develop the potential in Gorontalo Province," he explained.
The Governor of Gorontalo, Ir Ismail Pakaya, revealed various potentials owned by Gorontalo Province. He said that Gorontalo Province has five regencies and one city with various potentials in it. These potentials include paddy fields, dry land, oil palm plantations, corn plantations, coffee plantations, and sugar cane plantations in collaboration with sugar cane factories built in the new order era.
"All areas of Gorontalo Province have sea coasts which are our focus to develop such as tourism, fisheries, and so on. This is one part that we will discuss in cooperation with IPB University," he said.
He revealed that the Gorontalo Provincial Government released 720 sacrificial animals to East Kalimantan and North Kalimantan through a special port for livestock ships. This, said the governor, became the focus of the Gorontalo Provincial Government as a livestock-sending area.
"From all these things we want to build food barns in Gorontalo, including areas for expanding employment opportunities. We have planned to bring the expansion of employment opportunities closer to large companies in Gorontalo. We hope that we can realize this cooperation soon," said Ir Ismail.
The activity was continued with discussions and visits to various places at IPB University such as Closed House Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Agribusiness, and Technology Park (ATP), and Botani Mart. (Lp/Rz) (IAAS/TNY)
