IPB Students Invited High School Students in Bogor for “Ngopi” in the World of Learning in the Social Media
Every high-school leaver has at least one dream. Pursuing and to be student of higher learning institutions is a dream of high school (SMA) and other equivalent levels students. Higher education is supposed to give skills and confidence. They are told that at university they gain critical thinking skills, meet people and, most transformative of all, become an "independent learner". Therefore, high school students want to complete their high schools in time. University need a high standards, mandatory curriculum to get all students on the road to higher education and a good paying job.
To assist high school students well-informed on the universities they interested in, students of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) who are members of group of higher learning instituions in social media, invited high school students from Bogor for “Ngobrol Pintar” (Ngopi Smart Chatting) in IPB, on 17 February 2018.
Students who joined the Ngopi event were from SMAN 1 Pamijahan, SMAN 1 Jasinga; SMK Bumi Putera; SMAN 1 Ciawi; SMAN 1 Tajunghalang; SMA Diponegoro 1, Jakarta; SMK 1 Insani, Depok; SMAN 1, Leuwiliang; SMAN 1, Cibungbulang; and SMAN 1, Ciampea. About 30 students from those schools were invited to join the event to get closer to IPB.
"Actually the venue for the event is rotating. Coincidence the election of the venue for the current period was IPB. So we introduced IPB campus deeper to the students of those High Schools and other universities as well to show IPB, the best in agricultural university! ", Said Siti Maryamah, IPB student.
Towards the implementation of the 2018 SNMPTN Seleksi Nasional Masuk Perguruan Tinggi Negeri (Joint Entrance Selection of State Universities), Ngopi event is intended to introduce the world of learning. The event also brought in students from the University of Indonesia (UI), the Open University (UT), Sekolah Tinggi Akuntansi Negara (STAN the State University for Accountancy), the School of Statistics (STIS), and several other universities, who are members of such group in the social media.
This kind of event was the first to be organzied in Bogor, but it was third in Jabodetabek. Members of the group and the coordinator of Greater Jakarta area, were invited to this event. The objective of the event were to promote to high school students on the world of learning, admission, scholarship, and motivate the High School students to get into the university.
"Coincidentally we are coordinator, after voting, then IPB was selected to be venue. We invited High School students to join the event openly, no specific target on the number of participants. Any student is welcome to join the event. Such kind of event will also to be held in Bandung, Semarang and other cities because we are connected with students all over Indonesia, "said event coordinator, Regar Bindari Bayu Pratama.
This event was expected to help high school students get a correct information of campus and university world. (Wied)
