Summer Course at Bogor Agricultural University
Directorate of International Relations and Cooperation of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) organized held Summer Course Program and the Opening Ceremony was held on 20 September 2012. The theme of the opening ceremony was "Biodiversity from Forest to the Sea", at the Meeting Room of Rector, Darmaga Campus, Bogor. Participants of the Summer Course are foreign students from Hungary, Mali, Sudan, Taiwan, Serbia and Pakistan.
Biodiversity experts of IPB involve in this course course are from the Department of Water Resources Management (MSP) of Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, and the Department of Forest Resources Conservation and Ecotourism (KSHE) of Faculty of Forestry.
The objectives of the said Summer Course are to improve the awareness and to provide first information on the scientific and social benefits of tropical forests and wildlife conservation. The Summer Course lasts from September – December 2012.
Methods of the delivery of courses are lectures, field activities, and seminars on tropical forest ecology and conservation. In addition the participants will be given the opportunity to interact with the Indonesian culture by learning the Indonesian language. Moreover, the participants will also learning the Sundanese culture and arts performed by UKM Gentra Kaheman. Finally, they will also attend the 19th Tri-University International Joint Seminar and Symposium.
The venue of the Summer course will be the Darmaga Campus, Mount Walat International Education Forest, National Park of Mount Gede Pangrango, Botanical Gardens Bogor, Tangerang Lontar village as to introduce the Indonesian biodiversity and Taman Mini Indonesia Indah for the introduction of the Indnesian culture.
