IPB University Postgraduate School (SPs) signed a cooperation agreement (PKS) with the Center for Environmental Research and Clean Technology (PRLTB), Biological and Environmental Research Organization, National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) regarding research and innovation in the field of science and technology for characteristics and environmental remediation and cleaner production, (31/3).

Present at the event were Prof Titi Candra Sunarti as Vice Dean of SPs IPB University in the field of Resources, Cooperation and Development, Prof Suprihatin, Prof Arief Sabdo Yuwono, Dr Yudi Setiawan, Dr Zaenal Abidin, Dr Liyantono, Dr Syartinilia and representatives from the BRIN research center.

The Dean of SPs IPB University, Prof Anas Miftah Fauzi, in his remarks expressed his gratitude for the PKS that was carried out between SPs IPB University and PRLTB BRIN. For information, IPB University SPs currently have the authority to be able to conduct collaborative research, as long as it is related to SPs IPB University students. “With the signing of this PKS, later research will involve SPs IPB University students for technical implementation,” he said.

Prof Anas Miftah Fauzi expressed his hope that through this PKS there would be even closer collaboration and closeness with the research centers at BRIN and also at IPB University, especially the linkage of research conducted by SPs IPB University students.

“We propose that if possible, we can also establish international cooperation. That way, we can form a research consortium that can involve the Education Fund Management Institution (LPDP) and our experience is that we have collaborated with Wageningen University and also the National University of Singapore,” he added.

Meanwhile, Dr Sasa Sofyan Munawar PRLTB BRIN welcomed this collaboration very well. He said, this research center is a combination of researchers who were previously at the Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT), the Directorate of Higher Education, Research and Technology (Dikti), Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP), and the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin).

“With the current teamwork system, our researchers are in various places in Indonesia, so they have very good research experience,” he explained.

He added, currently his party has a work target of at least 50 percent in 2023 to take a doctoral program. However, currently only 40 percent has been implemented. This target aims to improve the qualifications of researchers in research centers. He hopes that through this collaboration, researchers can continue their studies at SPs IPB University.

“Apart from that, our target is one person one paper, so collaboration with universities that have the same vision, such as the publication requirements that have been carried out by SPs IPB University, will strengthen us in meeting this target,” he said. (HBL/Rz) (IAAS/DSR)
