Bogor City’s Mayor: There is a Potency of Bogor to be the Center of Indonesian Veterinary

The Mayor of Bogor, Bima Arya attended the 2nd Indonesia Animal Hospital and Clinic Expo (INAHEX) 2019 at IPB International Convention Center (IICC), Bogor (1/8). The exhibition, which carried the theme of Strengthening the Quality of Veterinary Profession Through International Networking, featured sophisticated tools in the world of veterinary medicine, one of which is magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
“Seeing the participants’ enthusiasm of this exhibition, I see a potency of Bogor City to become the center of veterinary in Indonesia,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FKH) IPB University, Prof. Srihadi Agung Priyono said that this Inahex event was an opportunity to see the development of technology in the veterinary medicine world, which was not less developed than the human medicine. According to him, currently the veterinary educational institutions face challenges in the procurement of sophisticated equipment so there is a time lag that harms students.
“Through this event, students can directly observe the sophisticated tools that they have not seen before. It also opens opportunity to create partnership with certain parties. For example, this event can open the opportunity to the pet insurance practitioner,” he explained.
According to the Head of Committee of Inahex 2019, Prof. Deni Noviana, the expo was attended by 30 participants from various veterinary drug companies, medical equipment, feed companies, veterinary associations as well as clinics and animal hospitals in Indonesia. Prof. Deni said that in addition to the 56th Anniversary of IPB University, Inahex was also a place for sharing and transforming science in the field of veterinary medicine.
“One of the equipment exhibited was the MRI. Indonesia has not have this because the price is quite expensive. I hope Bogor can have it. I hope that in the future there will be a referral animal hospital that has adequate tools for more comprehensive animal health services. Considering the number of dogs and cats is the third largest in the world, so we need good handling,” said the Professor of FKH IPB University and Chairman of the Indonesian Animal Hospital Association (ARSHI).
Inahex also held seminars that invited speakers from five countries; Dr. Chumpol Chitrakorn, DVM, DTBVS (Thailand), Warangkhana Phanwanich, DVM, MEng (Thailand), Prof. Dr. Deni Noviana, PhD, DAICVIM (Indonesia), Yasmina A Paramastri, DVM, DACLAM (Singapore), Dr. Anthony Caiafa (Australia), and Prof. Jalila Abu, DVM, PhD (Malaysia).
