Jumling (Friday Tour) of IPB in Cikarawang Village
Friday Tour (Jumling) Team of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) arrived at Cikarawang Village, Dramaga District, Bogor Regency, Friday (5/7). In this 10th year, the focus of Jumling IPB is on food safety and health.
Head of Cikarawang Village, Sapturi Wijaya expressed his gratitude to IPB that he views as having given assistance and guidance to the villagers around campus, especially Cikarawang Village in the field of agriculture in the broad sense. "Hopefully, IPB will continue to assist the villagers around the campus who always need all the help that can improve their welfare," he said.
Chairman of Jumling IPB, Vice Dean for Resources, Cooperation and Development of Faculty of Agriculture (Faperta) of IPB, Dr. Suwardi explained that one of IPB's noble duties is the services to society, one of Higher Education Tri Dharma (three major responsibilities). So far, IPB has given assistance and partnerships for the direct benefits to the environment, one of which is to the villages around the campus.
On this occasion, Dr. Suwardi also asked Cikarawang Villagers to utilize their home yards as planting land. Meanwhile, related to food security, according to him, it is not only a global issue but also the individual's concern.
“Food processing includes the most important basic need that is very essential in human life. Although the food is attractive and nutritious, it is not necessarily healthy or clean, so of no value at all, and villagers should be fully aware of its safety and cleanliness. In addition, parents should encourage children to study well, and encourage them to study in a good college such as IPB," he said.
The Friday Tour was coupled with giving donation to 20 orphans, facilities to micro, small and medium businesses (UMKM), health equipment to Posyandu, learning equipment for early childhood education, Iqro book and Al-Quran to taklim (Islamic Study) assemblies, and health and community nutrition services.
