Hundreds of Students of SMA Negeri 3 Mojokerto Visited IPB to Learn Agriculture

A total of 263 students and 20 teachers of SMAN 3, Mojokerto, East Java, visited Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), on Wednesday, 7 January 2015. The official reception of those students was held at the Thoyib Hadiwijaya Auditorium, Faculty of Agriculture, IPB, Campus Dramaga. Vice Principal of SMAN 3, Mojokerto, Drs. Supraptono, who was also the group leader stated, "We expect that our students could learn appropriate farming systems at IPB".

 

"Mojokerto is a city consisted  of two sub-districts. In term of the origin of students of SMAN 3, Mojokerto, they are from both the city as well as villages around the city whose  parents are farmers", said Drs. Supraptono. "But most of those students do not understand agriculture at all, and even our staple food because of their interest in agriculture is quite low, despite that facts they are from the countryside", he added.

 

On this occasion, the Head of Promotion Unit  of Law, Promotion, and Public Relations Office of IPB (KHPH), Dr.drh. M. Fahrudin, presented an overview of agriculture in the broad sense to students. Moreover, he also explained the available Faculties and Departments of IPB, and their superiorities  ranging from accreditation up to a variety of innovations produced by IPB researchers. (Wied)
