Golden Reunion of Batch 64 / A2, Faperta IPB (“YOS”) and Book Launch “From Baranangsiang For Indonesia” Monday, September 22, 2014
Beautiful and intimate was the atmosphere of the 50th Anniversary (Golden Anniversary) of 1964 Batch A2 of Faperta, which is often called the Batch "YOS". This reunion was held on Thursday, 18 September 2014, at IPB International Convention Center, the Botanical Square, Baranangsiang IPB, Bogor. This is a form of gratitude to our beloved alma mater or university, IPB.
"This reunion is to strengthen the relationship of Batch ’64 and celebrate the 50th Golden Anniversary. The batch ’64 Force agreed to write a book about the experience during the studies and after graduating from the university. It includes the experiences of YOS Batch, who have served in several government and private agencies for the last 30-40 years. The book is entitled ‘From Baranangsiang for Indonesia. The book has been completed and will especially be given to the Rector of IPB ", said the chairman of Batch YOS ‘64, Ir. Rudi Chaeruddin Basyarah.
There is an interesting story about IPB from friends of Prof. Bungaran, who was overseas. He said, "IPB is the first in the world, there is nothing like this. The university has centers of science, technology and such meetings. It is incredible. For me, this is one of the pillars of IPB’s progress because it can create something useful for the nation. Hopefully this can be an example for other activities ", said the originator of the book ‘From Baranangsiang for Indonesia’, Prof. Dr.Ir. Bungaran Saragih mimicking the words of his friend.
IPB Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir Herry Suhardiyanto, M.Sc in his speech said, "On behalf of IPB I congratulate YOS Batch for the Golden Anniversary and togetherness that has reached 50 years. It was really remarkable. A very important moment to have incised something brilliant, a book ‘From Baranangsiang for Indonesia’. This is a wonderful history for the succeeding generations, who should be able to take the role models, excellent and become a mosaic of IPB’s achievement for the nation. Hopefully the 3rd Batch next year could be modeled on this Faperta A2 generation. The same hope is from the other batches. The ’64 batch has struggled to promote agriculture in all areas. It should not stop. We also can not remain static before the food sovereignty of this nation can be achieved. The support, encouragement, and valuable lessons in this book become an invaluable guide for future generations so that agriculture would become a source of prosperity for the people of Indonesia, " said Rector.
There are testimonies from Batch 1964 for the students of IPB, such as:
Ir. Bambang S. M.Sc said, "IPB Students must keep learning and continue making achievement to be able to explore the existing potential in agriculture, and help farmers to be better and have more prosperous life."
Ir. Suroso Natakusuma, MM said, "Make our experience this as a reference and comparative input in the search for identity. Manage a better life. Learn to be number one. Being a student must be selective, accurate, and creative. Prioritize togetherness with friends. Togetherness is a beautiful thing, to be able to cover the shortfall of each other. "
Lastly, Ir. Entjeng Surachman, said, "If possible this reunion could be a tradition for students of IPB. Continue to hold for a Golden Anniversary. The important thing is to make something for IPB’s progress in the future. "(Mtd))
