BPKP Invites FEM IPB Evaluating Financial Condition of Merauke Regency


Financial and Development Supervisory Board (BPKP) invited Study Program of Regional Development Management (Ps. MDP) Faculty of Economics and Management Bogor Agricultural University (FEM-IPB) to conduct monitoring and evaluation (monev) in financial governance in Merauke Regency. The collaboration of BPKP, FEM IPB and Merauke Local Government established Center of Excellent Local Governance and Economic Development (CoE LOGED) focuses on the role of state financial governance which need to be supported through sustainable research.

“The CoE aims to accelerate the deployment of the best practices of financial accountability and development through applied research, methodology development and its dissemination. The activity of CoE LOGED in Merauke Regency is focused on study and training activity about Regional Fiscal Risks Monitoring. Monev is conducted in several agencies those are Bappeda, Inspectorates, 1st Assistant of Regional Secretary for Government Affair and People’s Welfare, BPS and Musamus University,” said Program Secretary of CoE LOGED, Dr. A. Faroby Falatehan, SP, ME.

The Monev’s result has shown that this activity is very necessary in supporting regional financial condition of Merauke Regency. With this Regional Fiscal Risks Monitoring, a region can discover any  problems that occur in that region.

“The concept of this Regional Fiscal Risks Monitoring is a new concept, because it views regional fiscal condition from various sides. With this activity, hopefully it can increase greater participation of IPB in regions development in Indonesia,” he added.

According to Head of BPKP Planning and Monitoring Bureau, Dr. Slamet Hariadi, the concept of this Regional Fiscal Risks Monitoring, not only focus on regional financial but also economical, institutional, social and environmental problem. Furthermore, with this Monev, based on input from stakeholders, this program is expected to continue, especially with the participation of the region.

“The end of this activity will be on the beginning of 2019. The plan is that this activity will be continued on 2020 with the funding from Asian Development Bank (ADB), follow with the activity of granting scholarship of BPKP and CoE’s State Accountability Revitalization (STAR) ,” he stated.
