IPB University students handed over a map of flood vulnerability and land potential to Rowosari Village, where students conducted the Innovation Real-Thematic Work Lecture (KKN-Tematik). The submission was aimed at village officials to increase disaster awareness and improve agricultural yields in Rowosari Village, Bonorowo District, Kebumen, Central Java.

Not only that, IPB University students also handed over a guidebook for fisheries cultivation as part of the socialization of fish cultivation. The move was to increase fisheries production in Rowosari Village. The socialization was held at the village hall and attended by the Head of Fisheries of Rowosari Village, village officials, and residents.

The socialization began with an explanation of aquaculture, the purpose of aquaculture, cultivation containers, water quality, environment, feed, disease, treatment, and fish reproduction. Syafii, the person in charge of the activity said, “This socialization is very good for the residents here, seeing the many tanks and ponds that can be used for aquaculture activities. It is hoped that residents can apply the knowledge that has been given so that it can increase the yield of cultivation and advance the economy of Rowosari Village.”

During the socialization activities, a demonstration was also held on the use of a refractometer tool to measure water salinity. The demonstration was conducted to broaden the community’s knowledge regarding water quality. The community was enthusiastic about this demonstration.

“Thank you, ladies and gentlemen, for holding the event and practicing and explaining directly how to use the tool. Hopefully, the insights about fish farming, especially about feed, disease, and good water quality for fish can be applied in our village,” said one of the residents who said he was happy with the socialization of fish farming management.

“It is hoped that the potential land map that has been made and the socialization of fisheries that has been carried out will have a positive impact on the progress of this village. Hopefully, the farmers can apply the knowledge that has been given and the Rowosari Village Government can develop the potential of the village through the land potential map and formulate flood disaster mitigation strategies through the map of flood-prone areas,” said Tigor Mulana as the head of the IPB University Innovation KKN-T team in Rowosari Village.

Rowosari Village Secretary Dwi Isnaeni said, “I would like to thank the IPB University Innovation KKN-T team for preparing this event. Hopefully, with this book and map, the potential of fisheries, agriculture, and plantations in Rowosari Village can be better and improve in terms of quality. Hopefully, this activity can be a forum for exchanging knowledge.” (*/Rz) (IAAS/TNY)
