HIDIT 2026, IPB University Discusses the Integration of Cultural Heritage and Digital Transformation
Digital transformation must be rooted in cultural heritage, local wisdom, and biodiversity. This idea became the central focus of the International Conference on Heritage Information and Digital Transformation (HIDIT) 2026, held at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), IPB University, on (10/23).
Initiated by the Institute of Information Management and Digital Transformation (LMITD) of IPB University, the conference brought together academics, practitioners, and stakeholders to discuss the use of technology in managing cultural heritage and knowledge.
In his opening remarks, IPB University Rector Dr Alim Setiawan Slamet expressed his appreciation to all parties who supported the organization of HIDIT 2026. He emphasized the importance of international collaboration and interaction in advancing scientific knowledge and digital transformation that can bring broad benefits to society.
“International forums such as HIDIT 2026 provide opportunities to strengthen networks, share experiences, and generate inspiration and innovation relevant to society’s needs.
Such collaboration is expected not only to enrich academic discussions but also to create tangible impacts on knowledge development and progress at both national and international levels,” he said.
Chairperson of HIDIT 2026, Dr Adisti Permatasari Putri Hartoyo, explained that this was the first time the conference had been held, covering a diverse range of topics, including heritage, cultural wisdom, digital transformation, biodiversity, and nature.
“Technology cannot stand on its own without strong roots. We need to understand culture, heritage, and local wisdom so that technology can serve humanity, make life easier, and bring about breakthroughs and innovations,” she said.
She explained that HIDIT 2026 had three main objectives: integrating cultural wisdom, heritage, and technology; strengthening collaboration among academics, researchers, practitioners, and the private sector; and disseminating research findings through scientific publications.
The conference is expected to produce publications in international journals, books, and proceedings relevant to HIDIT’s fields of study. The event also involved various stakeholders working in information technology, museums, archives, libraries, and cultural heritage preservation.
Dr Adisti expressed her hope that HIDIT 2026 would serve as a platform for inspiration and the exchange of ideas beyond the academic community. The discussions are expected to provide valuable insights for practitioners, government institutions, and policymakers, ensuring that digital technology development remains rooted in cultural values while delivering meaningful benefits to society.
Through HIDIT 2026, IPB University encourages interdisciplinary and international collaboration to advance digital transformation that is not only innovative but also sustainable and centered on human needs. (AS) (IAAS/CAA)
