Ngatino, a Building Materials Store Employee and Elementary School Graduate, Helps His Daughter Become One of IPB University’s Top Graduates

Limited education has never diminished a father’s dreams. Ngatino, an employee at a building materials store, proved this by helping his daughter, Rizka Aulia Apriliani, achieve the proud distinction of being one of IPB University’s top graduates.

Although he only attended elementary school, Ngatino always instilled in his children the importance of studying hard, being diligent, and giving their all in their chosen fields. “And indeed, our daughter, Rizka, has always been very enthusiastic about learning,” he said. 

Rizka Aulia graduated on Wednesday (8/19) at Grha Widya Wisuda on the IPB Dramaga campus. She was named the top graduate of the Faculty of Agriculture thanks to a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3,85. 

“As parents, we are very proud that our daughter has succeeded and earned such excellent grades. We are also grateful to Allah SWT that our prayers as parents have been answered. May our daughter continue to succeed in her chosen field in the future,” she added.

Learning to Grow from Plants
Rizka is a graduate of the Agronomy and Horticulture (AGH) program in the Faculty of Agriculture. After graduating from SMAN 2 Bekasi, she was admitted to IPB University through the SBMPTN pathway (now known as the National Test Based Selection/SNBT). 

“While studying in the AGH program, I actually discovered that a plant’s journey is far more complex and fascinating than I had imagined. AGH taught me that growth never happens overnight,” said Rizka.

According to her, just like plants, every achievement requires a good start, a supportive environment, perseverance in nurturing, and a long process before it ultimately yields something of value.

She is grateful that her parents gave her their full trust and support throughout her studies at IPB University. She also felt greatly assisted by the Kartu Indonesia Pintar (KIP) College Scholarship, which allowed her to complete her studies without placing a heavy financial burden on her parents.

“Even though both my parents only graduated from elementary school, I am very proud because they always prioritized their children’s education and wanted us to experience a better life. 

Their message that I always remember is, ‘Don’t forget to pray and be grateful.’ It’s a simple message that will always guide me in every step I take,” said Rizka. (dh) (IAAS/EPK)
