IPB University Alumni Lecture: Preparing Resilient Graduates to Face Global Challenges
IPB University, in collaboration with the Alumni Association (HA), held a hybrid Alumni Lecture for graduates of the 7th and 8th graduation ceremonies of the 2025/2026 academic year on Tuesday (5/19). The event aimed to equip graduates with strategies for high adaptability, both in the public sector and in the entrepreneurial world.
“Alumni play a vital role as ambassadors of the institution, bringing about positive change in society through their high level of competence and strong moral character,” said IPB University Rector Dr Alim Setiawan in his opening remarks.
In his presentation, H Fauzi Amro, MSi, Chair of the Central Executive Board (DPP) of Alumni Association IPB University, stated that public sectors such as government agencies and international organizations are now implementing strict recruitment policies, such as zero growth schemes, in the interest of fiscal efficiency.
To tackle these complex bureaucratic challenges, Fauzi urged the graduates to adopt a long term, impact-driven approach (a legacy-driven career) and a winning mindset.
“Pursuing a career in the public sector isn’t just about landing a job; it’s about building a legacy that has a broad impact on society. You must have a winner’s mindset, one that doesn’t give in easily to bureaucracy, but is capable of shaping the system with integrity,” Fauzi emphasized.
Next, Dr Anggawira, Secretary General of the Central Executive Board of Alumni Association at IPB University, presented on the topic “The Entrepreneur’s Journey: Turning Challenges into Opportunities and Building Self Worth.” He explained that entrepreneurship is not merely a profession, but rather a mindset for identifying opportunities behind every societal problem.
According to Anggawira, soon to be graduates must be willing to take risks, be innovative, and consistently build their personal value by enhancing their skills, integrity, track record, and the strength of their alumni network.
“A successful entrepreneur is shaped by their resilience in the face of adversity. Challenges should not cause us to back down; rather, they should be transformed into creative opportunities that can enhance our value in the market,” said Anggawira.
In addition to career preparation, the event highlighted the 5 Strategic Programs of the HA IPB Central Executive Board for 2025–2029, including the optimization of the HA Hub Jakarta as a center for alumni collaboration and the participation of supply chain businesses in national nutrition programs. Through this synergy, IPB University hopes that recent graduates can immediately make a tangible contribution to the nation’s progress. (MW) (IAAS/EXC)
