Ditmawa and Student Organization Advisors Across IPB University Commit to Building Resilient and Impactful Student Organizations
The Directorate of Student Affairs (Ditmawa) at IPB University held a Joint Meeting with the Advisors of IPB Student Organizations (Ormawa) for 2026. This meeting serves as a strategic step for the institution to align visions and strengthen support for the 200 student organizations officially inaugurated on February 9. Guided by the motto “Student First! Trust, Respect, Responsibility,” the meeting highlighted the crucial role of advisors in shaping future leaders.
In his opening remarks, IPB University’s Director of Student Affairs, Dr Akhmad Arifin Hadi, emphasized the crucial role of advisors as catalysts for student progress amid the university’s ever-evolving dynamics. He noted that the current dynamics of student organizations require a more creative approach
“Student organization advisors are not merely supervisory figures, but mentors who must actively step in to motivate students so that the programs they produce are truly high-quality and impactful for society,” he stressed.
Next, the Assistant Director of Character Development, Student Organizations, and Student Sports and Arts, Muh Faturokhman, SPt, MSi, elaborated on the technical aspects of mentoring. He reminded the audience that mentors, whether faculty members or support staff, have the duty to guide, conduct periodic evaluations, and serve as curators of the content and technical aspects of student organization programs.
As a form of appreciation from the university, he also emphasized that the institution guarantees the administrative rights of student organization advisors by ensuring automatic record-keeping through the SIM Ormawa system, which is integrated with the Faculty Workload Management System (BKD).
“As a result, advisors can focus more on promoting student activities that advance the SDGs and are oriented toward global engagement, in line with the Rector’s directives,” he said.
To complement the technical presentation, Hazel Tsaqif Kalqaili Zaen explained concrete steps to facilitate the administrative needs and organizational development of student organizations.
“This year, we are focusing on resolving the root causes of institutional issues. Through the optimization of the SIM Ormawa platform, we aim to streamline the bureaucratic processes related to correspondence and finance, which were previously perceived as complex by our student peers,” he stated.
Additionally, he noted that Ditmawa has also prepared a structured student organization incubation ecosystem, ranging from the Student Management Skills Training (LKMM) to the Leadership School, supported by funding such as Competitive Grants and Non-Competitive Grants to accelerate innovation in student activities,” explained Hazel.
This meeting is expected to address various challenges faced by student organizations. This strong synergy serves as a crucial foundation for IPB University in educating students to adopt a global mindset and support green sustainability. (*/Rz) (IAAS/LAN)
