IPB University collaborated with the University of British Columbia (UBC), Canada in organising a summer course entitled “Impact Evaluation Assessment”. This annual activity has always been held every May since 2014. Participants of this summer programme came from various faculties at UBC and IPB University.

IPB University Summer Course Chair, Dr Tony Irawan explained that the purpose of this event was to maintain collaboration between IPB University and UBC. In addition, this activity aims to increase foreign lecturers and students who carry out summer courses at IPB University.

“We want to increase international exposure and increase students’ experience in collaborating with foreigners. They will carry out this activity together with UBC students,” said the Head of the Department of Economics, Faculty of Economics and Management (FEM), IPB University.

The same thing was expressed by one of the UBC lecturers, Dr Christopher Bennett. He hopes that this summer course will realise a constructive relationship between IPB University and UBC. Not only for students, but also the collaboration of researchers from both universities.

Dr Chris added, “We hope that students will get useful outputs regarding monitoring and evaluation so that they can minimise the impact of any future activities that will be implemented. Either the impact on the environment or the community.”

The summer course will last for one full month and is divided into several series. Summer course participants will take part in classroom learning with lecturers from IPB University and UBC before going directly to the village community around the IPB University campus. (Frans/Rz) (IAAS/PRP)
