IPB University Achieves Achievement as a Sustainable Green Campus at the UI Green Metric Event

IPB University again achieved achievements as a sustainable green campus. The achievement was given to IPB University at the UI Green Metric event in 2023 which was held at Hasanudin University Hotel, Makassar, on Friday (1/12). IPB University was ranked fourth nationally in the category of sustainable universities in Indonesia and ranked 34th in the world.

The Chairperson of UI Green Metric, Prof Riri Fitri Sari said the universities that participated in this competition were fighters who were able to transform their universities into extraordinary.

“There are so many universities in Indonesia that have achieved extraordinary ratings. We see sustainable campus change in Indonesia,” she said.

She continued, campus sustainability in Indonesia is already good and must continue to be improved so that Indonesia can become an example of a country that pays attention to social, economic and environmental equality and balance so that it is reflected in the way environmental management is expected to get better.

Prof Nizam, Acting Director General of Higher Education, Research and Technology, said the UI Green Metric that has been developed can make the campus an example for the community in protecting the environment and inhibiting climate change.

“UI Green Metric for 13 years has brought our awareness to realise a green campus and show concern for the environment both in water conservation, energy, the environment that we must continue to improve together,” he said.

He added that concern and awareness of the environment in realising the campus as an example for the community must continue to be strengthened.

“Congratulations to universities that have maintained and made their campuses green, care about the environment and protect the environment for the future,” he said.

On this achievement, Dr Ibnul Qayim as Chairman of the Sustainable Campus Development Agency of IPB University, said, “I would like to thank UI Green Metric for the award that has been given, as the head of the sustainable campus agency I do not work alone but many have helped me.
