IPB University Innovation KKN-T Students Created a Binangun Hempas Stunting Program
IPB University student groups in the Innovation Real-Thematic Work Lecture (KKN-T) activities in Binangun Village, Lasem District, Rembang, Central Java held the Binangun Hempas Stunting program. This program is in the form of counseling aimed at posyandu cadres and mothers of stunted children.
"Results of the 2022 Indonesia Nutrition Status Survey, Rembang Regency is the area with the 6th highest stunting case in Central Java. In Binangun Village itself, there are several toddlers affected by stunting. Therefore, this activity is to provide literacy and awareness for mothers so they can meet the nutritional needs of their toddlers," said Hana Waldah Mariam, a member of the KKN-T Innovation team during counseling at the Binangun Village Hall, some time ago.
The Binangun Hempas Stunting Program was accompanied by Nadzirum Mubin, S.P., M.Si. as Field Assistant Lecturer as well as Rembang Area Coordinating Lecturer. The activity was attended by the village head, village midwife, posyandu cadres, and parents whose toddlers were stunted.
"Children's nutrition must be paid close attention to, especially in the first 1,000 days of life because it is the basis for supporting children in their survival. This is based on guidelines for adequate nutritional standards for children so that later they will not be affected by stunting," said Hana.
The IPB University student from the Department of Community Nutrition, Faculty of Human Ecology also outlined stunting prevention steps, tips, and tricks about eating children. He also conveyed the arrangement of food for one week that meets the needs of adequate nutritional standards for children.
Febri Nur Intan Sari, the Binangun Village midwife appreciated the Binangun Hempas Stunting program initiated by IPB University students. "This activity is beneficial to reduce the number of stunted people in Rembang Regency, especially in Binangun Village. The village program at this time is very much related to that carried out by the Binangun Village KKN-T Innovation group, so the hope is that it can make mothers with toddlers more aware here," he said.
After the event, IPB University students also presented tools and places to eat to mothers whose children were stunted as assistance to increase children's eating intensity. In addition, infographics and leaflets were given to three posyandu to be used as a reference for stunting problems and a souvenir from the IPB University Innovation KKN-T group in Binangun Village.
