Technology advancement in industry 4.0 era becomes more rapidly. The countries that are most ready for industrial revolution 4.0 era are China and Israel.

“China has been very sophisticated. The second is Israel, this country has used advanced technology. Therefore, IPB must seriously prepare itself. I want, under the coordination of Institute of Research and Community Empowerment (LPPM), IPB must keep on sharpening the preparation of its research road map so it needs intensive study. This road map will be considerably useful not only for researchers, but also for policy makers and industry,” said Rector of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), Dr. Arif Satria in his welcoming speech at Workshop of Maritime 4.0 Road Map Preparation at IPb International Convention Center (IICC), Bogor (6/12).

According to him, technology development in industry 4.0 era is something undeniable. In IPB, has been conducted researches align with the development of industry 4.0 era. IPB’s task are consolidating and translating various points that had been achieved into research road map includes the research field that can be applied directly and basic science research field.

“Responding this change needs active collaboration from various parties. Other than that, it also requires agility, creativity, and the ability to take advantage of opportunity. It is essential to have the collaboration rhythm from various scientific fields, so it will create a good formula to be filled and to be developed,” he stated.

On this occasion, all experts from different scientific fields in IPB gathered. Among of them are the experts of smart fisheries expert, smart energy and bio-prospecting, smart marine tourism, small island and ecosystem also smart port, shipping and logistic. They integrated the idea and concept to formulate Maritime 4.0 Road Map.

Head of LPPM IPB, Dr. Aji Hermawan stated that in industrial revolution 4.0 era, human’s role in technical dimension will be shifted to creative dimensions. Therefore, LPPM attempts to formulate the Draft of Maritime 4.0 Road Map.

“This is an effort to describe the concept of Agro-Maritime 4.0 for marine-related aspects. The foothold in formulating this road map are IPB achievements to date also direction and steps of future development to realize Maritime 4.0. Focus of this road map is the development of research, innovation, and application also infrastructure fulfillment to support all those activities. How the application of innovation produced by IPB be adjusted to industry 4.0 in accordance with industry 4.0’s stages. Hopefully this Road Map formulation workshop can produce productive result for future IPB,” he conveyed.

This Maritime 4.0 Road Map Formulation was held thanks to the collaboration between working units in IPB such as LPPM, faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science (FPIK), Center of Coastal and Marine Resources Studies (PKSPL) and Study Program of Tropical Marine Resource Economics. (qa)
