IPB Students’ Brought Home 11 Prestigious Awards from Asian Pacific Agricultural Students Competition in Taiwan

Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) students once again successfully demonstrated their exceptional capabilities in the international competition arena. IPB students brought home 11 (eleven) prestigious awards during through the Asian Pacific Agriculture Student Summit & Undergraduate Project Competition held on November 14th-17th, 2018 in Taiwan. This annual summit was organized by National Pingtung University of Science and Technology collaborating with Taiwan Ministry of Education, Office of International Affairs, and Research Center for Energy Technological Strategy, National Cheng Kung University. This competition provided three sub-themes namely Agriculture & Life Science (ALS), Engineering & Energy (EE) & Humanities & Management (HM). IPB students with their exceptionally remarkable performances strived with total 11 awards gained, including 2 “Outstanding Oral Presentation Awards”: Ahmad Fauzan & Maulida Nurul (“I-PHONIC: Online Hydrophonic Business Innovation Based on Socio Technopreneur to Achieve SDGs 2030 (Case on Jakarta City,Indonesia)”¾HM), Sanhaji & Achmad Widodo (“PALM-TREX: (Oil Palm Transporting Machine): Optimization of Oil Palm Transportation based on Zero Emissions and Self-Sufficient Energy”¾EE), 1 “Outstanding Technical Content Award”: Mochamad Nasir & Amar Muammar Qadafi (“Bioremover: New Innovation Product from Surfactant DEA Methyl Ester Olein by Palm Oil as A Portable and Enviromental Friendly Stain Dry Remover”¾HM) & 2 “Best PPT Presentation Awards”: Edo Adianto R (“Tourism Village Development with Tourism Opportunity Spectrum (TOS) Approach at Karang Mulya Village, Tegal Regency”¾HM) & Septia Sapista (“Agronomic Evaluation of Foxtail Millet (Setaria italica L.Beauv) Local Genotypes”¾ALS). In each category, IPB literally swept the winner prizes, which are in EE theme, 1st: Baiq Nabila Muftia Utami & Mohammad Ghifari Haekal (“FireFighter: Peatland Fires Early Warning System Software Utilizing Artificial Neural Network”), 2nd: Aulia Taufid, Maulana Syafiq (“Design Ergonomic Lettuce Harvester Based On Rotary Cutter”) & 3rd: Aufa Nisrina & Maulana Syafiq (“THE PEEX: Pest Exterminator Nocturnal Insect Based Thermoelectric and Biobriquette for Paddy Cultivation”), meanwhile in HM theme, 1st: Vionabela Bunga Nareswari (“Development of Snack Sheet Based on Mushroom (Pleurotus pulmonarius) as an Alternative Snacks for Vegetarian”), 2nd: Ni Putu Ayu Eka Sundari (“Agrotourism Development Direction of Mekarbuana Village as a Tool for Synchronization with Desa Emas Program) & 3rd: Ditta Hakha Soleha, Budy Salaam Muhammad (“Development of Ready to Drink Lacto-Fermented Herbaceous Beverage from Traditional Bir Plethok Ingridients to Supress the Growth of Indonesia's Non-Communicable Diseases”). Ahmad Fauzan, Maulida Nurul, who belonged to HM group, were among 11 fruitful IPB teams during the event brought "I_PHONIC" concept, offering modern agricultural solution, where the platform was created to connect hydroponic farmers with customers. Through "I_PHONIC," customers could easily buy hydroponic products. Fauzan claimed that this platform can benefit both parties, where producers could obtain markets to sell hydroponic agricultural products whilst consumers could easily access hydroponic fruits and vegetables at competitive prices. Solid advantage included that agricultural products provided are more hygienic and fresher as they are planted through the modern hydroponic method. The offered price could compete thus benefits hydroponic farmers. Besides, this platform also provides educational features for consumers regarding hydroponic agriculture and the products produced. These long-listed accomplishments in Taiwan are expected to possess the IPB dominance in fabricating agriculture and its interdisciplinary application on innovations.
