In the current era of industrial revolution, human resources are needed that do not only have good academic skills. Non-academic skills (soft skills) in dealing with these changes are also absolutely necessary. Responding to this, the Management Department, Faculty of Economics and Management (FEM) of the Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB) held a Guest Lecturer Series on Monday (12/10) at the Dramaga IPB Campus, Bogor.

Taking the theme "Public Speaking and Presentation Techniques, and Digital Marketing Optimization", this Guest Lecturer presents Riko Anggara, Kompas TV News Anchor & Executive Producer, Arum K. Prasodjo from PT Hutchinson 3 Indonesia and Raden Rauf, selebgram and Business Consultant PT United Tractors.

Riko gives tips on how to talk successfully in front of people. According to him the first tips are plenary. Prepare everything as best as possible, one hundred percent.

"Don't appear if you don't have readiness. Cause if you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Second, build self-confidence through content, which is by arranging material according to the needs of the audience, what's in it for them, "said Riko.

There are three important components in communication, namely visual, vocal and verbal. All three must go hand in hand. If there is a disruption in the process, the audience tends to be more trusting in the visual.

"If I say, I'm happy today, but with a flat facial expression, do you believe it or not? Don't believe it. Therefore, to build self-confidence in communication is not enough just to be visual by talking, but also verbally through body gestures, eye contact and facial expressions, "he added.

And to become an expert, it takes a lot of reading to get as many references as possible and continuous practice. Remember the theory of 10,000 hours, that to be successful and expert, we must pass 10,000 hours of practice and practice. "It's easy, do it and practice it in everyday life," he said ..

Meanwhile, in his presentation Arum said that based on existing data, out of 33 million mobile phone users, there were 80 percent of users in the millennial generation, namely 15-25 years. Of the 295.1 million Indonesians, 88.1 million are internet users and 79 million are active on social media. The use of gadgets in Indonesia is also quite high at 43 percent of the people using smartphones.

"Therefore, there are several ways to optimize our brand in this digital world. Among them are how brand and product reference and how brand and product conversations, "he added.

Raden Rauf as a celebrity said that this millennial generation has tremendous potential to become an influencer. "We can be anyone on social media, but we also have to be supported by interesting content. There are several ways to maintain our image as a celebrity, including that we must build interesting content and we must also be consistent in the sense that we know our positioning and targeting, "he said.

According to Lindawati Kartika SE, M.Sc as Student Coordinator of the Management Department of FEM IPB, this Guest Lecturer Management Series is a program that bridges academics and practitioners. This activity aims to enable students to get the various soft skills needed from the practitioners presented. (Rz / Zul)
