IPB Students Achieve Five Titles in Indonesian Tourism Competition

A number of achievements and awards was achieved again by the students of Vocational School of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB). These achievements were obtained in the 9th Indonesian Tourism Competition which was held on 3-4 May 2018 in Bandung, West Java. Students from Ecotourism Expertise Program of IPB Vocational School successfully won a number of titles in the event including the 1st winner of the music contest, 1st winner of video blog (tourism video) competition, 3rd winner of traditional costume festival category, 3rd winner of traditional dance (tor- tor dance), and 3rd winner of bread survival.

Kania Sofiantina Rahayu, one of the supervisors, revealed that these achievements were a result of student performance during lecture and practicum process. A good collaboration between the students and the supervisors led to the achievement of these expected results.

The Indonesian Tourism Competition (KPI) is a national competition held annually since 2009. This year, the 9th KPI is entitled “Digital Tourism for Sustainable Development” which means that the digitization of tourism is one way to develop sustainable tourism. The competition comes with the slogan “Go Digital, Go Tourism, Go Future!”.

“Surely this achievement is expected to be continued by the next generation, so it becomes a tradition and an inherent trigger for the students of Ecotourism Expertise Program in particular and Vocational School of IPB in general,” said Kania.

The 1st Winner of Music Contest consisted of Nur Aidil Hidayat, Gevyn Jovial Agnata, Rindang Almira, Fatmadila Rosa, Naufal Alfarisi, Arief Abdurrochman and Christine Ayuninta, while the 1st Winner of Video Blog (Tourism Video) Competition was Ah Auval Hadzdzi, Amalia Batari and Kayis Fathin. The position of the 3rd Winner of Bread Survival was achieved by Nur Aini Hayati. The 3rd Winner of Traditional Costume Festival consisted of Irvan Wahyu, Jihan Azalika and Rekha Indah Farhah. And the 3rd Winner of Traditional Dance Category was Dhanang Windapurna, Salim Arjuna, Ajeng Maya Adelia, Eka Hardiyanti and Syahra Dinur F. who performed the Tor-tor Dance. (WB/ZSP/ris)
