Members of Dewan Keluarga Masjid (DKM) Attended the Laboratory Works at FKH IPB

70 members of the Dewan Keluarga Masjid (Mosque Council Board – DKM) from the villages around the campus IPB Dramaga, attended the "Training on the Provision of Qurban Meat which is ASUH (Aman, Sehat, Utuh, dan Halal – Safe, Healthy, intact, and Halal) and the socialization program for zoonotic of  Qurban Animal", on Sunday, 21 October 2012, at the Lecture Hall A of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FKH), Dramaga Campus of IPB, Bogor. Such activities was the first time of its kind to be held, and it was jointly organized by  the National Zoonosis Center (NZC) of FKH IPB and the Department of Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, Bogor regency.

According to the Deputy Dean of FKH IPB, Dr Agus Setiyono, this program was  expected to provide  positive results, not only for officers in charge of the  qurban animals, but will also give secure feeling for the  qurban meat recipients. So far, the contribution FKH for the community was limited to send its students to check the health of qurban animals.
 
The  Executive Chairman of NZC,  Dr. Heru Setijanto,  expressed in his remarks, that in order to get the Safe, Healthy, Intact and  and Halal (ASUH) of qurban meat  a continuous effort towards improvement is required. One of which is the program which is currently implemented. 
 
In  the training program the group of DKM who usually also the person in charge of qurban animals were  given  various knowledge by experts in their fields. For example, subject on  " Penyakit yang ditularkan dari Hewan Qurban (the  disease which is transmitted by Qurban Animal)" and " Menangani Hewan Qurban Sampai Siap disembelih (How to Handle the Slaughtered Animal)"  were  delivered by Prof. Dr. Mirnawati B Sudarwanto, and Dr. Chusnul Choliq.
 
Then, continued by  Dr Hadri Latif  who presented his presentation on   “Pemotongan yang Baik dan Penanganan Daging Hewan Qurban” (Standardized slaughtering and  Handling of Qurban Meat)", and Dr Wiwin Winarsih on with the theme " Menilai Daging yang Sehat”  (To Assess Healthy Meat)".
 
At the beginning of the discussion,  Drh. Hasan Rifa’i Al  Faridli presented discussing " Qurban dalam Perspektif Syariat Islam (Qurban in the perspective of Islamic law)," and  Drh. Soetrisno, Head of Department of Animal Husbandry and Fisheries for Bogor regency presented his presentation on " Kebijakan tentang Pengendalian Penyakit Hewan Menular Strategis dan Pengawasan Hewan Qurban (Policies on the Control of Infectious Animal Disease  and the Handling of Qurban)".
 
Not only the theory, the group of DKM were also taught and guided in the practical work on slaughtering the goats, similar subject as those given to students.
 
"Insya Allah, next year such  activity will be expanded to the Greater Jakarta area. Whenever the slaughtering house (Rumah Pemotongan Hewan – RPH) has not been invovled in the Eid Qurban event, then this kind of training is necessary, "said Dr. Agus. (Wied).
