IPB Students Need This Before Graduate
Besides knowledge, a fresh graduate must have essential skills to land a dream job. In addressing this, Association of Students of Civil And Environmental Engineering (Himatesil) IPB conducted a Training for Environmental Management System (SML) International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 14001 : 2015 and Occupational Safety and Health Management System (SMK3) OHSAS 18001: 2007. This activity is held at RK V, Department of Civil And Environmental Engineering, IPB Dramaga campus.
Tasia, the Project Officer of this event explains the importance of learning SML ISO 14001 : 2015 and SMK3 OHSAS 18001: 2007 for IPB students as a preparation for landing a job.
“SML ISO 14001 : 2015 and SMK3 OHSAS 18001: 2007 is one of the most essential skills for students to have for post-campus life. Furthermore, SML and SMK3 are quite much needed by companies, so that we can give certification for SML and SMK3 system,” she said.
She added that this ISO and SMK3 training held as a collaboration between PT Cipta Terpadu Gemilang and Association of Alumni of Civil and Environmental Engineering (IAMSIL) to become the trainer on that activity.
“We invite professional trainer from PT. Cipta Terpadu Gemilang – a consultant company which provides human resources training and organizational management system in the field of chemistry and environment. Participants were given material as an environmental auditor, such as analyzing the environmental impact produced by a company,” said Tasia.
Participants attended the two days training from 14 to 15 April 2018. On the first day, the topic is about ISO 14001 : 2015, followed by SMK3 OHSAS 18001 : 2007 on the next day.
Participants were introduced to the system of ISO and SMK3, also, the importance of learning environmental management system for the sustainability of a company and environmental preservation. Started from terms commonly used in ISO and SMK3, organization context of a company, leadership which generates environmental policies, planning of environmental policies, needed-support, planning of operational and control, evaluation of the company’ performance, and restoration management.
Tasia hopes that after joining the training, the participants will understand the feasibility parameters of a company can operate in terms of its environmental impact.
“Because we only provide the basic training for SML, we hope that after joining the ISO and SMK3 training, the participants will understand the feasibility parameters of a company can operate in terms of its environmental impact. After the training, participants can continue the training to the next level in PT. Cipta Terpadu Gemilang and get certification as an environmental auditor for a company,” Tasia uttered. (FLW)
