Jumling Sinarsari: Save Our Setu
Three thousand patin fish germs were spread by the Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs of IPB, Prof. Dr.Ir. Yonny Koesmaryono, MS at Setu Tengah, Sinarsari Village Dramaga (4/5). Accompanied by Dramaga Sub-district Head, Arom Rusnadar dan Head of RW III, Uus, serta Vice Head for Community Empowerment, Institute of Research and Community Empowerment of IPB for Service to Community, Dr. Prastowo in Jumat Keliling (Jumling) of IPB 2012, Prof. Yonny asked the residents surrounding Setu Tengah to maintain the Setu.
“Setu is the resource which is extraordinarily uncommon. During this time without we realize, there have been many Setu in West Java which are lost because of many which are buried. If it is rain hard it will cause flood. So my message, please do not make disappear of this Setu Tengah,” said Prof. Yonny after giving the compensation to 20 orphan children from RW III Sinarsari Village.
IPB with University Tri Dharma which was carried out by it had the duty to educate, research and serve to the community. Therefore, the technological aid could be spread for the villages surrounding the campus, he added.
According to Uus’ explanation, Setu Tengah formerly was shallow because of a lot of mud and trash. During this time, the aid from the Posdaya program was only used for buying the fish germ which was then raised in Setu to be sold back. The profit from this activity was used for operational cost and treatment of Setu whatever there is.
“Because the profit is not many, so we use the result from the fish enlargement in the Setu to mending of Setu and the worker’ salary. The important thing at the moment is that Setu can be used for the residents in the surroundings. Just a little aid can be given to the residents from the result of this Setu. Hopefully four month later, the germs which are spread today can be harvested by us and the result can be enjoyed by the residents of Setu Tengah” said Uus.(zul)
