IPB University Vocational School Lecturer Appointed as Visiting Professor at GPST China
Three lecturers from the Vocational School of IPB University received international academic recognition from Guangdong Polytechnic of Science and Trade (GPST) as part of the International Academic Conference on Smart Agriculture: Technology Empowerment and Integration of Industry and Education, held at the Qingyuan Campus, Guangdong, China (9/1–3).
The three lecturers are drh Tetty Barunawati Siagian, MSi (Veterinary Paramedics), Dr Undang (Plant Breeding and Seed Technology), and Dr Henry Kasmanhadi Saputra (Agricultural Production Technology and Community Development).
In particular, drh Tetty and Dr Henry received letters of appointment as Visiting Professors at the College of Animal Science and Technology, GPST, for the 2026–2029 period. Meanwhile, Dr Undang was appointed in the field of agriculture.
“This appointment strengthens the position of Vocational School lecturers at IPB University within international academic networks while opening opportunities to develop cross border collaborations in education, research, publications, and academic activities,” said drh Tetty.
At the international conference, the three IPB University lecturers also served as sub-forum speakers, presenting their respective areas of expertise. drh Tetty presented a study on the potential use of acupuncture at the GV 26 and/or KI 1 points in combination with Ketamine–Xylazine anesthesia and its effects on cardiovascular function in dogs.
Meanwhile, Dr Undang discussed the transformation of Indonesia’s local germplasm within the smart farming ecosystem. Dr Henry’s presentation focused on aquatic environmental technology and engineering to support sustainable aquaculture productivity.
In addition to attending the conference, the three lecturers also officially represented the Vocational School of IPB University in efforts to strengthen institutional cooperation with GPST through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between the two institutions.
“This collaboration is expected to be followed up through various academic activities, including joint research, joint publications, faculty and student exchanges, and the development of international vocational education programs,” drh Tetty said.
The international engagement also demonstrates that the expertise of Vocational School lecturers at IPB University is relevant to developments in global education and technology, spanning veterinary medicine, agriculture and smart farming, as well as aquaculture technology. (*/Rz) (IAAS/CAA)
