Through a Visiting Professor Program, IPB University and INCEIF Malaysia Explore a Dual Degree Program in Islamic Economics
The Department of Islamic Economics, Faculty of Economics and Management (FEM) at IPB University hosted Prof Mansor H Ibrahim, Deputy President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the School of Graduate Studies at INCEIF University, Malaysia, as part of its Visiting Professor program.
This event also served as an opportunity to sign a letter of intent (LoI) between IPB University and INCEIF University to explore various forms of academic collaboration, including opportunities to develop a dual degree program for IPB University’s Master’s Program in Islamic Economics.
Over the course of five days, Prof Mansor shared his expertise through public lectures, research methods workshops, academic writing workshops, publication workshops, research clinics, curriculum development discussions, and institutional engagement sessions. The event was attended by faculty members, researchers, graduate students, practitioners, and approximately 50 participants from various universities and institutions.
“I am very grateful for this invitation. Although I have visited Indonesia several times, this is my first time visiting Bogor and IPB University. Thank you very much for the warm welcome and the attention shown to me during my stay here,” said Prof Mansor.
As an academic in the fields of monetary economics, banking, and Islamic finance, Prof Mansor has experience as a researcher, editor, reviewer for international journals, and speaker at various global academic forums. Through a series of interactive sessions, he shared his perspectives on developments in Islamic economics and finance, research methodology, strategies for international scientific publication, and the development of academic collaboration networks.
The Chair of the Department of Sharia Economics at IPB University, Dr Khalifah M Ali, hopes that this event will mark the beginning of broader inter-institutional collaboration.
“We hope this program will mark the beginning of sustained academic collaboration, not only between IPB University and INCEIF University but also with various universities and institutions committed to advancing Islamic economics and finance.
Through such collaborations, we aim to build an academic ecosystem capable of producing relevant, high quality research that makes a meaningful impact on society,” he said.
Responding to the signing of the LoI, Prof Mansor said, “This signing reflects our shared commitment to advancing academic excellence through international collaboration. I hope this partnership will evolve into various meaningful initiatives that benefit both institutions, our students, and the broader academic community.”
Through this collaboration, IPB University and INCEIF University are opening opportunities to develop cooperation in the fields of education, research, scientific publications, and faculty and student mobility to strengthen the development of Islamic economics and finance at both the national and international levels.
