KKNT Innovation IPB University Students Hold Stunting Prevention Counseling in Cibanteng Village, Bogor
IPB University’s Innovation Real Thematic Work Lecture (KKNT) students held stunting prevention counseling at Posyandu Kuntum Mekar 3 Cibanteng Village, Ciampea, Bogor, West Java (29/7). This mentoring aims to increase community knowledge, especially mothers who have an important role in stunting prevention efforts from pregnancy to postpartum.
“This activity is expected to raise awareness of the importance of maintaining health, hygiene, and good parenting, so that it can support the creation of a generation of children who are healthy, strong, and have full potential to grow and develop optimally,” said Hafshah Ayna Mahira, one of the KKNT Innovation group members, an IPB University student from the Department of Nutritional Sciences.
She explained, in this assistance, education was delivered about the definition of stunting, the characteristics and impacts of stunting, and steps to prevent stunting.
One of the doctors from the Melania Ciampea Clinic, Dr Reni Meilansari Telaumbanua, said that stunting can actually be prevented early on. She said, with adequate support, it is hoped that mothers and families can take effective preventive measures to prevent stunting in children.
“Today’s activity is extraordinary, the effort from the surrounding community is also extraordinary. If the understanding presented can be accepted and can add insight for the mothers who are here,” said Dr Reni.
On this occasion, Dr Reni also conveyed the dangers of stunting for children in the future. She said, if stunting is left untreated, it can have a long-term impact on children. Children not only experience physical growth obstacles, but insufficient nutrition also affects the strength of the immune system to brain development. (*/ra/Rz) (IAAS/PRO)
