IPB University Preparedness to Host UTBK-SNBT, Take a Peek at the Preparation of the IT Team to Prepare Devices and Networks

For the sake of the smoothness of the Computer-Based Writing Exam – National Selection Based on this Test (UTBK – SNBT) at IPB University, there is a role for the information technology (IT) team that is struggling in preparing for the exam.

Vice Chairman of Information and Communication Technology Division (LMITD) of IPB University in the field of Information and Communication Technology, Dr Shelvie Nidya Neyman explained, the IT team plays an important role in the sustainability of the UTBK-SNBT implementation process at IPB University.

The IT team is divided into coordinators (1 person) who are in charge of coordinating all IT preparations needed for the implementation of the exam. 1 server admin, is tasked with preparing the existing server and making sure the personal computer (PC) and application can connect with the server.

A team of technicians deployed in the room was 35 people. They are responsible for ensuring the readiness of devices and computers as well as exam applications in each room/location.

For the smooth implementation of the exam, IPB University has coordinated with the UTBK-SNBT Central Committee, one of which is preparing a local server and computer configuration used for the exam. The IPB University IT team has also made preparations that are divided into several stages.

“Preparation and inspection of IT and network/internet devices and ensure that everything is in accordance with the specifications that have been set by the UTBK Central Committee. Then, the installation of the exam system/application on each PC that will be used, the installation and configuration of the test server by considering the usage load (number of locations and participants),” said Dr Shelvie.

Furthermore, she also added, another preparation is a trial process to ensure that the test system/application and server work properly without problems, both in terms of device, system and network. Coordination between teams and technicians is also carried out to ensure all preparations have been completed.

“IPB University provides as many as 815 computers spread across several exam locations, including the Computer Centre Library/Center, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Faculty of Agricultural Technology (Fateta), Faculty of Animal Husbandry (Fapet), Business School and Vocational School,” she said.
