IPB University together with the State Islamic University of North Sumatra (UINSU) Medan signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in the fields of education, research and community service. The MoU was signed by Prof Arif Satria as Rector of IPB University together with Prof Nurhayati, Rector of UINSU Medan at Andi Hakim Nasoetion Building, IPB Dramaga Campus, Wednesday (28/3).

On that occasion, Prof Arif Satria said that IPB University is ready to support UINSU Medan to grow more mature this year. He hoped that UINSU Medan would share its needs, both in the fields of research, education, and community development.

In addition, he stated, IPB University also has a rural community service programme in Indonesia, one of which is Data Desa Presisi (DDP). Therefore, IPB University needs local partners to help develop villages through these programmes.

“We have the Precision Village Data programme by the Faculty of Human Ecology. If we have expanded to North Sumatra, inevitably, we need human resources (HR) who are able to jointly create precision data for the people in North Sumatra,” he explained.

Prof Arif hopes that this collaboration can develop more widely, not limited to one or two faculties. He wants other faculties to follow up on the signing of the MoU so that this cooperation develops and has a wider impact.

Meanwhile, Prof Nurhayati said, besides aiming to develop the tridharma of higher education, her visit to IPB University was also to strengthen the implementation of the internal quality system at UINSU. In the near future, UINSU Medan’s Quality Assurance Agency (LPM) in collaboration with IPB University’s HR Development Centre (PPSDM) will conduct internal audit training for auditors at UINSU Medan.

“Hopefully the signing of the MoU between IPB University and UINSU Medan will bring blessings. Not only for IPB University, but also UINSU Medan, which is struggling to get Excellent accreditation,” she hoped.

In closing, Prof Nurhayati also invited Prof Arif Satria and Prof Iskandar Siregar as Vice Rector of IPB University in the field of Global Connectivity, Collaboration and Alumni Relations to visit UINSU Medan to greet and motivate UINSU Medan lecturers and students. (Frans/Rz) (IAAS/RUM)
