IPB University also attended the Kyoto University International Symposium on Education and Research in Global Environmental Studies in Asia. This year, the activity took place at one of the partner universities, namely Hue University of Agriculture and Forestry, Vietnam.

This symposium event was attended by various academics from countries in Asia, such as Japan, Vietnam, India, Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia both online and offline. IPB University Vice Rector for Agro Maritime Research, Innovation and Development, Prof Ernan Rustiadi and his team at this symposium.

As the academic coordinator of IPB and Kyoto University collaboration, Prof. Ernan was also accompanied by a delegation from Cross-Appointee IPB University and Kyoto University. They are Dr Nurhayati and Dr Andrea Emma Pravitasari along with supporting staff from the Kyoto University Satellite Office at IPB University, Yuri Ardhya Stanny, MGES, MSi.

It is a matter of pride for IPB University because of the total of 114 participants and 10 poster awards given, two of them were won by IPB University students. Namely students of the Bachelor of Land Resources Management Study Program (Prodi) and students of the Master of Regional Planning (PWL) Study Program, Postgraduate School.

Apart from that, one award was received by an alumni of the IPB University PWL Masters Study Program who is currently continuing his doctoral studies at Kyoto University.

“What a very proud achievement from IPB University students. “We hope that the participation of IPB University students in the academic world, especially in international events, can continue to increase in the future,” said Prof Ernan.

The symposium lasted for two days. On the first day it was held at Hue University of Agriculture and Forestry, then on the second day a field visit was held to Hong Ha Commune Village, Thua Thien-Hue Province.

As an annual agenda, the 2024 Kyoto University International Symposium is planned to be held in Cambodia. Furthermore, IPB University proposes to host symposium activities in 2025. (Yuri/Rz) (IAAS/AMR)
