To improve the quality of higher education in a planned and sustainable manner, IPB University through the Quality Management Office (KMM) held a Quality Assurance Workshop, on Monday (13/11) at the IPB International Convention Center, Bogor.

The workshop elaborated on the Study Program Accreditation Policy after the issuance of the Regulation of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Permendikbudristek) Number 53 of 2023 concerning Quality Assurance of Higher Education. The workshop also presented the results of the Internal Quality Assurance System (SPMI) in 2023.

“I hope this workshop can provide information and realize the commitment of IPB University as a legal entity university that is increasingly qualified,” said Chairman of KMM IPB University, Dr I Wayan Nurjaya in his speech.

Dr Mochammad Riyanto, Chairman of Accreditation and Certification, KMM IPB University explained that the Permendikbudristek was part of the Merdeka Belajar program and became the first step in the transformation of the university accreditation system.

“This regulation aims to continue the transformation by easing the administrative and financial burden of accreditation,” he explained.

In connection with the Permendikbudristek, each university is given a maximum period of two years from the enactment of the regulation to compile and determine accreditation instruments and procedures based on the new national higher education standards (SNDikti).

“State universities are given a period of no later than December 2024,” he added.

This accreditation can be renewed automatically every five years and re-accreditation is voluntary. He further explained the assessment mechanism, accreditation financing, and transition period.

Eny Widiya Astuti, STP, MSi, Chairman of Standards and Quality Assessment, KMM IPB University, then explained the delivery of SPMI results in 2023.

“SPMI effectively and continuously succeeds in instilling a culture of quality in all organizational units and higher education personnel in higher education,” she said.

In the 2023 National Accreditation System, higher education quality assessment is based on the achievement of indicators through the assessment of four criteria, namely quality culture, relevance, accountability, and mission differentiation.

“Hopefully, this step can realize the Rector’s Regulation Number 36 of 2020, which is to become a university that consistently and accountability produces competent graduates in the fields of agriculture, marine and tropical biosciences for the progress of the nation,” she concluded.
