SPs IPB University PSL Study Program Students Join 5 South Korean Universities in Joint Workshop and Joint Study Tour
Students of the Graduate School (SPs) of IPB University from the Natural Resources and Environmental Management Study Program (PSL) attended a joint workshop and study tour together with 5 universities in South Korea in order to strengthen academic cooperation with the theme 'Smart Forest Management for the Improvement of Ecosystem Service'.
The five universities from South Korea are Seoul National University, Chungnam National University, Daegu University, Hanyang University and Kyung Pook University. PSL IPB University students were represented by Septa Riadi and Ghoitsa Rohmah Nur Azizah from the doctoral program and Farah Sabina Hadiyani and Desintha Yuwindha Prahesty from the master program. In addition, five students from the Faculty of Forestry and Environment of IPB University also participated.
This activity was held in various places starting from the Faculty of Forestry and Environment of IPB University, Sentul Eco Edu Tourism Forest Bogor, Science Techno Park IPB University, Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR), Bogor Botanical Garden, Perum Perhutani Forest Management Unit (KPH) Kendal, Mount Merapi National Park and Mangrove Conservation in Baros, Bantul Regency Yogyakarta.
The purpose of this activity is in addition to introducing various forests and national parks in Indonesia, the South Korean delegation is introduced to Indonesian culture by visiting Borobudur Temple and various popular tourism spots and other culinary tours.
Prof Ho Sang Kang, Project Manager of IPB University and Seoul National University (SNU) Center for Agriculture and Bioscience, Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) said that this project is a collaboration between KOICA and a number of universities.
"South Korean students in this program are supported by the South Korean Government, in this program South Korea is interested in the topic of smart forest management by utilizing existing technology," he said.
Septa Riadi said that this activity was very memorable and provided valuable experience. The activity program was carried out in the form of general lectures, tracking to the field and planting mangrove trees on site.
"I am very happy to participate in this activity and really increase my knowledge, especially in the field of forestry and the latest technology. I also had the opportunity to increase my international network," he explained. (HBL/Rz) (IAAS/RUM)
