IPB University Leads in National Patent Applications for 2025 with 145 Inventions
IPB University continues to encourage its academic community to keep producing spectacular innovations. Reflecting on the achievements of 2025, IPB University was the higher education institution with the highest number of patent applications. This figure reached 145 patent and utility model applications, according to data from the Directorate General of Intellectual Property, Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia.
This achievement demonstrates IPB University’s position as a higher education institution that excels not only academically but is also productive in generating economically valuable innovations.
The high number of patent applications reflects the growing contribution of the IPB University academic community in driving the commercialization of research and the development of applied technologies.
The Rector of IPB University, Dr Alim Setiawan Slamet, stated that this achievement is the result of the institution’s strong commitment to building a sustainable innovation ecosystem.
He emphasized, “We encourage every invention not to remain confined to the laboratory or academic journals, but to be legally protected and widely utilized by the public.”
Furthermore, he explained that this increase in the number of patents is also linked to the strengthening of support systems, incentives, and collaboration with various parties, including industry and the government.
According to him, these steps are key strategies for accelerating the commercialization of research outcomes.
Indirectly, Dr Alim also emphasized that a culture of innovation must continue to be fostered within the campus environment.
He stated that this success is expected to motivate faculty, researchers, and students to continue producing innovative works that have a tangible impact.
