IPB University Opens New International Class S1 Smart Agriculture Study Program, in Collaboration with South Korea
IPB University opened a Smart Agriculture Undergraduate Study Program (Prodi) for International Class. Registration will open in mid-July 2023. Deputy Chancellor of IPB University for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Drh Deni Noviana said, the opening of the Smart Agriculture Study Program for International Class was based on the challenges of the agricultural sector in responding to disruptions from the industrial revolution 4.0. This must be balanced with the fulfilment of adaptive and competent human resources.
"The existence of the Smart Agriculture Study Program is an effort by IPB University to answer today's agricultural challenges. The hope is that this study program will produce graduates who can face the industrial era 4.0," he said.
Prof. Deni explained, the competence of graduates of the Smart Agriculture Study Program is designed so that graduates can plan and design critically and innovatively in implementing and managing smart agricultural production systems that are adaptive to corporate-scale climates. Starting from input to output which includes post-harvest and marketing.
"In addition, graduates of the Smart Agriculture Study Program are expected to master knowledge in utilizing spatial science and technology related to plant production, intelligent agricultural technology, artificial intelligence (AI) and the use of sensors and devices," he continued.
In opening the Smart Agriculture Study Program for this International Class, IPB University has collaborated with South Korea's Gyeongsang National University (GNU). IPB University was also assisted by the Ministry of Education and Culture of South Korea for seven years. Assistance includes funding, staff development, curriculum, teaching staff and doctoral scholarships.
Prof. Deni added, there are scholarship opportunities in the Smart Agriculture Study Program for students who come from countries that have collaborated in education with IPB University before, namely Kenya, Bosnia, Cambodia and Timor Leste.
