IPB University Sets Student Names to Participate in National Student Achievement Selection
IPB University held the Main Achievement Student Award Night, Monday (27/01) at the Andi Hakim Nasoetion Auditorium, Dramaga Campus of IPB, Bogor. This event is a form of appreciation for outstanding students from the Bachelor program and IPB University Diploma program. Tonight also determined the main outstanding students who will be guided and prepared by IPB University to welcome the national student achievement contestants organized by the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia this year.
In his remarks, the Director of Student Affairs and Career Development of IPB University, Dr. Alim Setiawan said that IPB University has had a very good foundation in the selection of outstanding students so that IPB University has always been a finalist in the selection of national outstanding students and always gets top three. "We have the principle that everything must be well prepared, all participants have gone through selection at the department, faculty and IPB level. "Coaching will be given at the new institutional level to national level selection," he said. One of the preparation programs for outstanding students launched by IPB University in 2019 was the Outsco (Outstanding Community) program. The program is a program used to prepare outstanding students from an early age from levels 1 and 2. The Outsco program also facilitates outstanding students to continue to excel. This is thanks to programs designed to support student self-development such as workshops and contests at national and international levels that must be followed.
"Achievement is not like waiting for a windfall, but it must have preparation. In this Outsco program students get guidance for nine months in the form of self-development workshops, public speaking, innovation, and given mentoring access from 18 alumni of outstanding students of IPB University who are enthusiastic, motivated "Inspiration can be transmitted, and there is a grand project as a final project. There are more or less 16 skill sets taught, which are complex problem solving, decision making, and so on," said Dr Alim in his speech.
On the night of this award, it was announced the winners of the undergraduate and Diploma Program students. The three main high-achieving student names in the Bachelor program are Muhammad Azman from the Business School, as the first best; second best is Ardella Maharani Putri from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA); and the third best is Adinda Rana Fauziah from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. As for the outstanding students of the Diploma program, the first best is Muhamad Raafi; Andini DA Putri second best and third best Raudia Mizahara. Every best performing student from both Bachelor and Diploma programs will undergo a series of preparations that are sufficiently dense to provide added value so they can compete at the national level. Furthermore, the Vice Chancellor for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Drajat Martianto explained that to this day outstanding students have been through preparations for approximately one year, and for the next four to five months more solid preparations will be given to selected outstanding students.
"The night of the determination and awarding of this outstanding student has fulfilled the expectations of the Minister of Education and Culture, namely students who have complete characteristics not only academic. So if smart students are not enough, therefore in the selection of these outstanding students we have three criteria, namely achievement in various fields, superior works, and good communication skills, "said Dr. Drajat. Finally Dr Drajat said, "Whoever is the best, he is the best among the best. "If they haven't won first, second or third they are the best in their respective environments." (IAAS/NAS)
