IPB University Hosts Marine Science and Technology Student Gathering

As many as 80 members of the Indonesian Maritime Science and Technology Student Association (Himitekindo) from eight regions including Sumatra, Sulawesi, Kalimantan, Java, Bali and Nusa Landmark attended the Himitekindo XIII National Conference in the Common Class Room of IPB Dramaga Bogor, Tuesday (1/14).

Through this National Conference it is hoped that ideas / ideas for developing a large and cultured nation will emerge.

Vice Chancellor for Cooperation and Information Systems, IPB University, Prof. Dr. Dodik Ridho Nurrochmat said that the Himitekindo student association in carrying out its role is expected to provide benefits in the field of fisheries and marine affairs.

"Young people who are members of Himitekindo are expected to be able to take responsibility for the challenges of the Indonesian fisheries and maritime world. One example is technological innovation 4.0 which generally relies on signal strength, while at sea, the signal is barely caught," he explained.

Meanwhile, Dean of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK) IPB University, Dr. Ir Luky Adriyanto, expressed his gratitude for the trust in IPB University as the host of the Himitekindo National Conference to XIII.

“I hope that this National Conference can bring benefits and run successfully. "I also said that the following month IPB University will again host the Himaferin National Conference (Student Association for the Utilization of Fisheries Resources) from all over Indonesia," he explained.

Through this National Conference activity, students are expected to be agents in achieving the target, especially in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals point 14, which is about life under water that aims to conserve the sea and marine resources in a sustainable manner.

Through this National Conference the role of millennials in developing fisheries and marine resources is urgently needed. In addition, the active role of youth can encourage the creation of ideas and arguments for the good of Indonesian fisheries and marine affairs, as well as supporting the WPP-NRI (State Fisheries Management Territory of the Republic of Indonesia) in the management of fisheries for fishing, conservation, research, and fisheries development that includes inland waters .

In addition to the national seminar, the National Conference was also held in the context of the selection of new management, the title of scientific writing competition and various training.

Also attending the amunas event was Prof. Hari Eko Irianto, Head of the Research Center for Marine Biotechnology and Fisheries Product Processing and Biotechnology. On this occasion, he also delivered about the development of the fisheries and marine sector. (IAAS/NAS)
