IPB University Students’ Two Best Presenters and Two Founder Award in China on Energy and Food
During the 26th Tri-U International Joint Seminar and Symposium in Jiangsu University, China on October 20th-25th, 2019, total 11 IPB University students competed with more than 140 delegates from 13 universities of 5 countries. Two IPB University’s students won two awards each, namely the “Best Presenter” and “Founder Award”. Sanhaji brought up paper entitled “Sulfur Transporting Machine: Harvesting potential energy into electrical energy”, whilst Khalisah Rahma Safira was with “Rice Paper-based Film Incorporated with Zinc Oxide Nanoparticles".
Total 11 students of IPB University competed through their research work presentation at The 26th Tri-U International Joint Seminar and Symposium in Jiangsu University (JSU), China on October 20th-25th, 2019. Since 1994, Tri-U was initiated by Mie University, Japan, Chiang Mai University, Thailand and JSU, China, where later on IPB University and Guangxi University were newly accepted as one of the host universities in 2010 and 2018, respectively. Afterwards, Tri-U has become a yearly regular event. The 26th Tri-U aims at providing a platform for scholars and students from universities all around the world especially in Asia to present ongoing researches focusing upon five themes, including Population, Food, Energy, Environment and The Belt & Road Initiative.
The 26th Tri-U was opened by President of Jiangsu University himself—Prof. Yan Xiaohong. In the opening ceremony, President Yan Xiaohong gave the welcome and opening remarks to welcome the delegates to China, and ended his speech by encouraging delegates to feel freely to interact with each other and also feel the warmth of the people of Zhenjiang and JSU for that matter. After the opening ceremony, Prof. Hayato Umekawa (Mie University), Asst. Prof. Nat Vorayos (Chiang Mai University) and Prof. Sun Jianzhong (JSU) gave the plenary speech to share the ideas in food, environment and energy fields. In addition to competing, students also undertook group workshops to solve a number of problems in accordance with the five designated topics. This year, more than 140 delegates from 13 universities of 5 countries took part in the 26th Tri-U, conducted discussions and exchanged ideas that are useful for the development of the five topics in the future.
During the meeting, the student delegates attended the oral presentation and poster presentation on the five themes. In the closing ceremony, the Organizing Committee presented the “Best Presentation Awards”, “Best Poster Awards”, “Best Workshop Awards” and “Founder Awards”. In this occasion, two of IPB University’s students won awards at once, namely the “Best Presenter” and “Founder Award”, namely Sanhaji who brought up his paper entitled “Sulfur Transporting Machine: Harvesting potential energy into electrical energy”, and Khalisah Rahma Safira with title of “Rice Paper-based Film Incorporated with Zinc Oxide Nanoparticles". Meanwhile, three IPB researchers also participated as judges in the same event, namely Dr. Sintho Wahyuning Ardie, Dr. Eko Hari Purnomo, and Dr. Titi Chandra Sunarti who were also entrusted as the Jury Team to evaluate the best presenters.
